Another American Dream?

The idea behind steemit is that you can make money by posting interesting, engaging content. But the truth is far from this: of course you can make money – but only if you already have steem power. Now if this is society, people can choose to adopt it. But the fact that we've basically built a capitalist society in the form of a social media platform is an eye opener to how wrong it is.

The idea that if you have money, it'll stay that way is absurd – and cements societal inequalities. Steemit should be a place where only good quality content gets money. Not fake predictions about market performance, or any other stuff which doesn't deserve the rewards it gets. Obviously there is not objective way of deciding on poor quality content – but it should be new, original and above all well-written.

Yep it is the difference between equality of outcome vs equality of opportunity. Steemit itself supplies exactly the same tools to everyone, but not everyone chooses to do the same things and not everyone has the same resources. Both of a physical nature (lots of currency) or the same intelligence from witch to benefit from.

In the steemit world a lot of algorithms have been set up to try to balance the discrepancies. For instance lots of steemians know that they need to write post, but most don't find out that comments are actually post. So as a result they don't comment very much on other's post. Another example is the fact that an author can encourage people to comment on their post by giving the comments on their post a up vote. Very few people actually do this, even though it is obvious that more curation means more value in the post.

Reality rewards good choices. Imagination is only as good as its relationship to reality allows. For instance I imagine that certain products, goods, and services should be freely given because every human being is part of the family (emotion speak). I recognize that all human beings have a right to be compensated for what they produce(reality speak).

In the real world so far there is no way to produce food, clothing and shelter for free. As far as I can tell I and or a larger group of people would have to violate the none aggression principal and use violence to force someone to be a slave so that we can then give what they produce away. Such thinking makes no sense at all .
