This is a baby chipmunk about 3 weeks old. Normally surviving rate of baby chipmunks without their mother is very thin until they open their eyes. However, they have survived so far and doing fine with minimum facilities.

History

About two weeks ago when we were having a family chat in our home we heard a sound of baby chipmunks screaming for their mother. We didn't care about it as it is a usual sound for us. But, time went by and the screaming didn't stop. Those poor little ones were waiting for their mother for about 2 days. That moment they got our attention we realized that their mother had been eaten by some predator. Probably our cat. Our cat is a super predator. He can catch any small living thing in seconds.

And then we started to worry about the poor chipmunks but, we didn't rush to get them as we were also waiting for their mother to show up. Their's a belief in our country that baby chipmunks are hard to nourish without their mother. However, there were no adult chipmunk showing up for them for about 2 days. And then one poor one dropped from the roof. Luckily we were there when she showed up. Otherwise our cat could eat that innocent little soul. I immediately took her and gave some cow milk. And then the other day the male one has dropped and we took him too.

According to Orphaned Wild Life Care they were about 1 week old. The page recommend to give them a puppy formula and put a warm water bottle near them. However, I gave them cow milk which can be toxic for them as we can not find puppy formula in our area. I thought better something than nothing so I gave them cow milk. I fed them every 3 hours even at night. Each time I feed them I changed the water bottle with warm ones.

The poor little ones are not healthy as they would with their mother however, they have survived so far. If they managed to live until they open their eyes, then I can assure that they will live longer. Until then I am not sure.

All I can do is providing warmth and milk so far. God knows what will happen to them after that.

Please Bless Them If You Would Like Them to Live Longer......
