Levels of Hierarchy on Steemit

So you just arrived on this platform looking to see what all the fuss is about, you stay here for a few days or weeks, and very soon you start to realize how come always the same people end up on the trending page with the massive, almost ludacris rewards. The best analogy for tiers of hierarchy on steemit can be found in marine life.

whale.jpg

This is the top brass or the whales and orcas, these guys can give you a vote and make you celebrate, they can also flag you if you end up on their bad side, and your payouts will be precisely 0. Selfvote if you have more than 200k Steem Power will immediately skyrocket you on the trending page, a practice being done by essentially everyone who has it. Users with so much steem power like to hang together and "collude", there is nothing inherently wrong with that behavior, people in all sorts of areas in real life will do the same, you hang with "your" people.

We have another rising type of hierarchy, people who bought delegated steem power, or they were given that steem power to use, they also like to stick with the big guys in order to jump up the ranks of the payouts, again acceptable, but there are some who use that delegated power and selfvote 5-10 posts a day on their shitposts, virtually draining reward pool and raping it, it would be good if we return to 4 posts a day to reduce that kind of behavior. They can easily split and leave the platform, or stay if they wish. Again there are good and bad players in a delegation game.

Another tier of hierarchy are the dolphins (5-30k steem power) who bought their steem or they've earned it by blogging here from the start of the show. We also like to stick together, and this is the tier of users where you will find the best content on steemit, and realistically if you comment on their blogs most of the time they will check out what you write and toss you a vote.

minnows.jpg

Minnows are among the lowest slum scum life, look at that dirty minnows, fuck off you dirty peasants, learn english. Oh I kid the minnows, that was just a joke, they are the living breathing and the most important aspect of the steem game, they bring all the comments, votes and traffic. There are some rising stars there so watch out.

Newcomers like you will be confused by everything, what is steem, what is steem power, what are steem dollars, what is curation, when do you get the money, where to take that money, how to cash out, who to vote, who to follow. Everything is a mystery when you start blogging here, takes time to learn all that but very soon you will learn to swim with the marine life here and find your place in all the hierarchy zones on steemit. It won't be easy, but the long game pays off here. Happy swimming!

bonus.jpg

Bonus Hierarchy are the Ferengi of the bunch, these slimy fucks will stick on you and drain you from your life force. They are so called vote beggars, they will promote their posts everywhere and will find every channel to nag you. Are they good, perhaps some are, that's not really the point. They sure do stick around once they've found their sugar daddy. These peeps will do anything for a vote, sell their own family if they need to. Don't be a leech. Do your own thing, the votes will come.

Peace out.

Great blog, I love getting new knowledge on here. Keep it coming..... 😎

Nice post @moon32walker. New to all of this, but I can definetly see the point.

Yes so true. I was watching the recent heated debate here on steemit, between members I wont name.. but you know who @moon32walker ... I wanted to comment on the crazy shenanigans - but was totally scared because of the potential downvoting could literally destroy my minnow ass. That is self-censorship out of fear. Makes me sad...

Self-cenzorship because of possible flags and less rewards is the main reason why big players are allowed to do what they do. Fear if you speak up should not be anyone's downfall. Something steemit needs work more on to fix.

I would recommend a combination of views+upvotes+value for a post to skyrocket on trending page or steemit to have more filters like trending (based views) or trending (based on how many votes) and so on.

Make sense, right now if the post has that huge $ number it is propelled at the top from the start. It is easy to mass more eyes and votes when you're on the trending from minute 1. That is not organic, it is almost like cheating. With the combination you proposed that would balance the trending page and make it more enjoyable, but I fear again the post with the largest $sign would win again.

nice explanations, cant wait to leave the minnow hierachy someday.

Takes time but you will :)

I'm only started steemit a week ago and I found this very helpful. Thank you. Hopefully I can move up the hierarchy someday.

Good luck.

Hahaha. Yeah, this about sums things up. Though, I think a better description of the vote beggars would be comparing them to a Remora which is also known as a suckerfish :) They're parasitic fish that leech on and live off the bigger guys in the sea.

Would you believe me that I used to study marine biology and of course I know what Remoras are :) I was thinking of leeches but I couldn't find the right pic and I used that one that you can see now.

Oh, that's awesome! I take it since you said used to you gave up on studying it? Mind if I ask why? I used to want to be a marine biologist for all of my teenage years, and really wish I would have stuck with it but gave up since it wasn't a realistic goal for me due to things going on in my personal life.

Leeches would have also been a great choice, since they're blood sucking parasites much like a lot of people on this site :P

It was a long time ago when I was 22 (33 now), I dropped out of college, mostly because it was too expensive for me at the time to keep on going. Would I ever return to study marine biology, probably not but you never know, I'm always intrigued by the new discoveries in that part of science :)

Thank you for this great clarification! The one about the whales is very sad, but as you already write, it's just like that!

That's why I stick to the dolphins as much as I can, because they write good to very good content and your comments also vote. As you do, by the way. Thanks again for that at this point! ) Yes, and for the minnows and beginners Steemit is already a real challenge today. But I believe that if you try hard (like me) it will be:)

Thanks again for this article and have a nice day;)

Found an interested quote related to this material 👍✨ ;

"Soon I will fulfill the prophecy... "The God Whale." "

🤔..

Wow this is nice

Thanks for the post. So, which level of marine life do you class yourself as, just out of interest?

I'm new here & still learning before I jump in for an initial swim to test the waters, but what if the current marine life are not expecting a new species altogether, like myself?

An assumed "minnow" maybe, but a piranha.. with the potential to grow into a great white shark.. to a giant 3 -hearted octopus.. or even the almighty Kraken! ;)

Damn, this is an old ass blog I wrote more than year ago, how did you find it may I ask?

In terms of SP still I'm still a dolphin.

Pls just don't end up being a Cthulhu :)

Thank you very much for the useful contribution
