Please don't let Steemit become the new facebook

Several years ago I would start my computer up, open chrome and head over to Facebook, whilst on there I would talk to my friends, look at their status updates and maybe make a few comments.

Fast forward to this year; I no longer use Facebook. This is because rather then a social networking website, it has become a FFest* of click-bait articles, 'Like' begging and re-posted content. Before I deactivated my account for good, I would be able to scroll for minutes at a time without seeing even a single status update from my friend (at least one that wasn't just a share from some click-bait page like Lad-Bible), and this was from an account that has only liked a very limited number of pages, none of which were the ones being displayed on my feed.

The reason I bring this up is because Steemit as a platform Really encourages the use of click-bait titles and longer the site is up, the more desperate the users will get. This will in turn result in users re-posting content found online rather then making quality, engaging post. Before we know it the whole site will be filled with SoFlo Antonios and Lad-Bibles.

Luckily for us though, the general user-base of Steemit seems to have their heads screwed on properly. At the time of this post you can head over to the Trending page and you'll find a diverse and appealing group of articles ranging from an introduction from a developer to Informative, self help posts.

All I wish to say though is please let this continue, let's not let our trending pages get filled up with uninformative, click-bait posts and continue to vote up those posts which we are actually interested in, not the ones we think will do the best.

I actually brushed on this topic in a prior post of mine that can be found here:

I really think maybe you should reconsider if we are all able to make money, isn't it just awesome?

Is that all you want?

No. As nice as it would be to make a living from this I think I would much rather do it legitimately. Utilising niches that I'm passionate about.
