Real Talk: Two Weeks in Steemit!

I thought it would be good to have a personal thought outburst about my experiences during the first two weeks in Steemit. With a special attention to my discoveries during week 2. Without any further ado..

Two Weeks In Steemit

Time goes by fast, especially if you are as busy as i am. Remember, i have a daily 9-5. I tend to work overtime plus i have some minor business ventures on the side as well. Somewhere i have to also jam in my daily sports routines and hanging out with friends. Sometimes it ain't easy being me.

Now there also has been Steemit. At first it took me long time to produce a story, mainly because everything was so new. Not i feel much better and really feel quick in my actions.

I would like to share some of my discoveries along the way. This might not be anything unheard since site is running for more than two years. But some of the more experienced people might find some dose of nostalgia, some very new people mind find this useful.

People Are Most Important

I had a buddy @m31 that helped me to be more comfortable with this network and introduced to some of her friends. It helped me a lot having a nice group of welcoming people. I don't think i would enjoy early success without a help from them. I am very thankful for them.

Getting Smarter

At first there were many new things about how things are run and what really matters. I think i found out fast that it is not the followers but quality followers, a group of friends interested in development which really matters.

Having a good content is what it is all about. It is a bit hard for me to get discovered, especially since i don't have all day to play around, but i feel like i'm getting there.  There is no rush in this thing. I think if you can meet a nice person during a week it is great. In time your social network will grow with good and supporting people you are on the same page.

There are many get in, get rich, get out  people that think its about votes like on instagram. But its not. You have to put in some work to achieve something. It is not just a quick addition of fake followers and likes. I like to think if you are not interested in voting for somebody else, why would you think they are interested on voting for you.

I definitely feel like i have got a lot smarter and reached overall flow for this place. I am finally getting what i want to blog about and what message i want to send out. I feel very optimistic about it.

Being Active

This is a common sense that you might be spotted only if you are active. Now i am not saying you should post something rushed and shitty, no sir, but you have to keep in mind this works based on your activity. Nobody will search and follow a boring person that has nothing to give or share.

I am trying to make interesting and high quality posts about something i care about and i am good in. I have mainly focusing on traveling and photography since those two things are something i know a lot about and really enjoy talking about. There is other things to come.

Future Plans

I like to think big. If you have small goals you will achieve small results. I don't want to only post pretty pictures and tell about my travels. I really like the idea of helping others, i like to think it is in our power to raise Steemit. I think at some point when my network will fill up with great people i might start some kind of project of my own and would love to take parts in somebody else's as well.

Things I Wish Were Easier And Better

Everybody knows that buying votes is a thing now. I hate that. It beats the purpose and makes Steemit look like money generating machine and not a wonderful peace of tool for people expressing themselves that it is.

This makes finding of creative people much harder. Its a game of luck or just talking with people you know. You cant just go and see what is trending or hot. That is a freakshow run by bots.  My only chance is to scroll through NEW in search of finding somebody interesting. But there are so many people just dumping their so called posts it is hard to even find somebody.

I really wish developers would somehow fight off the bot wars and vote buying. Not experienced enough to give my thoughts on that however.

Have a great evening everybody.

I totally get what you are saying about quality followers. So many of the people on my following list are dead accounts.

This site does make it difficult to find the quality posts that are great to read. One tool which has helped me quite a bit is the Ginabot, Ginabot is available through discord, the bot will alert you when a post with a keyword is posted.

I believe you can gain access through PALnet.

Thanks for the heads up, i might look into it! :)

I always enjoy reading your work! (:

I' m glad you enjoy it!

Same for me and your posts :)
