It's too late for me - my son is 25 and far away. I did not ever use any kind of corporal punishment as he never needed it when he was a kid - but when the teenage years hit - he was quite a handful and much bigger than me so I didn't consider it at that time either.

I'm glad to get this chance to see the proverb's again. But I am not sure I can go along with this one.

Upvoted, resteemed, tweeting for 5 days and put in the Steemit chat promo board. I hope more people will get a chance to see this. It's is always good to have some time of reflection in this busy world.

Discipline does not necessarily have to be physical though. I think this is just using an idiom that was common back then in the Hebrew culture to refer to disciplining children :]

I don't know about using a rod (LOL - I'm being too literal). Too often we see parents letting their kids get away with anything and then see adults expecting everything to be handed to them.

Opinions on punishment varies as much as the parents raising their children. There are no specific "rules" for bringing up children. It's more of a trial and error to see what works with kids. One method may work for one but not another. Kids DO need parameters and guidance - and lots of love!

Do not withhold discipline from a child

Learning discipline is a challenge for both parents and children. @ironshield
