[RANT] Original vs reposted

in steemit •  8 years ago  (edited)

I really "love" how reposted content gets 10000x more steem dollars than original content ...

I won't be going into detail but today I've been "enlightened" - what's the motivation to create and post anything if you can repost something made by someone else ? No one really cares ... at least if there's a source or copyrights note.

But the problem is not only with that we're rewarding people for the content they found online, but with not rewarding the real authors. Why would an author join steemit when his content is already posted by others ? I'm wondering if it's even legal to gain profit from posting others' work ?

Anyway my conclusion for today is to start reposting others' work instead of my own ...
Does that make sense ? Is this what this site is for ?

Maybe we need some copyright clause when posting ?
Or should I just learn to stop worrying and love the steem ? ;)

I brought up a similar issue and then I came across your post. All you points are valid except the (hopefully joking) one about giving up and going to the dark side just reposting other peoples stuff. Please don't lose all your heart! I don't have a solution, I do feel your pain and hope something can be done about this. For the sake of nearly everyone here.

No I won't join the dark side ... I've started my own awards : https://steemit.com/photography/@murh/daily-copyright-infringements ;D

I have the same concerns with the platform. Curators don't seem to profit from downvoting these duplicates, but rather from upvoting them and taking a piece of the pie. I made a post about it in 6 catastrophic issues with the SteemIt platform

content is judged on its content not its creator

I'm not sure if what I did will work ... maybe make a post about this in #steemit-issues or #security ?
