The only thing is your vote pays the author. When you go to a restaurant is it 'tip or no tip'? No. You decide the value based on the service. I like the idea of having better control to reward the best content. I just want to be clear on how it impacts my ability to upvote future content.

It is tip or don't tip for me even if your analogy is some what lopsided. I go to the restaurant if the service was adequate or above they get a tip if the service was mediocre or bellow they don't . but I have to say I am a compulsory tipper and what pisses people off at a restaurant with there service don't bother me none.
