Thanks for this!!! I'm going to go through and get rid of these people. Thanks for watching out for us minnows :)
Edit: I actually was following a ton of these people. As a newbie I was just following whoever followed me first you know, but I didn't really think about spam accounts. Thanks for looking out!
Because the way the ecosystem is built, we don't have to fight them we just ignore them. Trust me after a while these entities will realize that is not profitable to spend time in something that it does not give money.
What do you mean its all automatic? The reason that they profit this behavior is because users' ignorance allow to continue. However, it is a matter of time, that this won't be profitable any more. We should focus in create a well oriented and healthy community.
So you are saying that these accounts are "bots or scripts" that fetch data from a unknown source and post it automatic right? Do you realize that the post will not gain value unless people comment or vote up for that post. Like I said we need to educate the community how the ecosystem works, so we can be more selective interacting with the post of others. In the other hand the "script or bots" wasn't done by thin air! You need to spend time coding, in other words you need time or money if you are not a programmer. New users are so into make money here that don't pay attention to these kind of post. So again, we need to educate the community and guide them so they don't vote or comment in these post anymore.
Unfortunately, there will always be those that attempt to game the system. It's annoying for sure, but with an open forum like Steemit, it's difficult to weed out the trash. Keep on Steeming on!
I know some of those accounts, too. But what benefit do they have from following me or being followed? If they dont post anything reasonable I wont upvote them, so whats the sense of it?
Yeah, I have gotten a lot of comments lately that have nothing to do with the post, or its just weird, or off topic. Annoying.
