Question: What does the "introduceyourself" tag mean?

in steemit •  8 years ago

Hi everyone,

I interpreted the introduceyourself tag to mean that your post should be you, an individual, introducing themselves (duh?)
So like, I'd say "Hi, I'm @neoxian and here are various things about me, etc etc".

But I think some people just view it as the "newbie" tag where those new to Steemit hang out. I've seen websites and companies introducing themselves. Some think that any first post should go there, whether you are actually introducing yourself or not. And I'm sure many just consider it a way to gain extra attention to their posts.

Any other interpretations?

I agree...I think you can be a little creative, but you should only introduce yourself once, so you should only have one post there. I told a story that gave a perspective on my life, not like, "hi, this is... and this is what I have done my whole life." Although I think those are obviously perfectly fine, too! Anyway, agreed - not just a place for newbies to hang out.

If it's poor content, flag it and move on. Or if you want to recover your voting power, just move on.

yeah, I agree. I think it's kindof exploited since it's a hot tag. we should somehow find a way to prevent abusing/misusing it.
