The time has come... Steem will rise from the ashes

Here are goes my little rant about the current and soon to be value of steem and of course SBD. Since I have joined SteemIt I have been paying attention to the rises and falls of this great currency we call steem. It is amazing the impact it has had on all of our lives. Think about the time we have put into our posts, comments, networking and just straight steeming. Have you invested that much into any other coin/currency? Okay maybe you have invested many years worth of hours into earning Fiat. But just think about the time and energy invested. So here goes why that makes steem so valuable.

What makes many of these alt-coins valuable? Nothing really. Okay so there have been a few alt-coin ICO's i have invested in, okay actually only two. But why did I invest into them in particular? Because I felt that they had value. That they could solve and issue or fill a demand. That is how business works right? Supply and demand. When taking any business class that is key to building small business', corporations or just entrepreneurship. You learn so solve a problem or fill a need in the market. Just like filling an order for a business you wouldn't sell a product no one wanted to buy would you? OK so back to crypto.

So thinking about that, what makes a coin valuable? Interest? Or to solve a problem. I think the issue with most digital currency ICOs is that they don't follow this model. You could say that they are becoming more efficient. But I believe the need right now is only the FOMO effect. How do steem and STB by connection play into this? Well think about the value of most coins. How are they given worth? Really only based on the value that they are being traded at. So yea steem essentially is only worth but people are willing to sell it at.

But what is different about steem? Well I am glad I asked. It is valuable because of all the time and effort we have put into it and the platforms surrounding it. SteemIt for example. Would steem be the same without steemit? Well it probably wouldn't be around at all but just think of how valuable this social-media ish platform to us. Our money is not only growing by trading but also by investing our time, energy, knowledge as well as our own investments.

Some other things to consider about Steem and SteemIt when thinking about value. It is Secure. We know that we hold the keys. The biggest risk here is loosing them. But steem is secure because of the DPOS algorithm. And it's speed. One of the fastest. Dan has been amazing creating the fastest chains using the graphene network.

In works is the next Hardfork. This would be HF20 "Velocity." The main purpose of this seems to be a fix for the bottle-necking happening with account creation. Another topic that is starting to become important and may need to be addressed is the fact that the reward pool is draining and this is commonly believed to be happening because of the self-voting due to 4x voting power from HF19. In my opinion something does need to change in this matter. I was outspoken about this particular problem before HF19's release and actually as soon as it was proposed. At 40 votes a day people are unable to upvote only them selves unless they post 40 times a day and upvote all 40 on them selves. This includes posts and comments. Now with the changes you can vote with 4x more power 10 times a day. So now instead of a few of the 40 votes going to self votes now most of the 10 votes are self votes. Now keep in mind this isn't everyone or every whale in particular. But there are a few who are doing this. Posts following who is the worst culprits of this are starting to pop up often now.

My view on this is that yes you should upvote your posts. As long as you are not spamming. So if you post once or twice a day than thats only 10%-20% of your power. The rest going to people who you follow and minnows who are writing really good articles that deserve some attention and love. I am currently doing this as I said above. I also have donated a 100 steem power delegation to the Minnow Support Project. Please come join us.

Please come join us in discord here: https://discord.gg/64HKmTu I do have a plan to invest more into minnows in the near future. Working out the logistics still.

I have a lot more to say but I think I bugged you guys enough for the day. Thank you for sticking around and reading my rant. Also thank you for supporting steemit and the minnows.

So many tokens are overvalued and are in a bubble. Steem is one of the seldom one's I see with real value. Long steem ;)

i agree as you read above. The market is fidgety right now though. Hopefully after almost a week in red we are going to see big gains next week.

Im still figuring out where does steem comfrom if we are not investing? If theres more people joining and more whales growing then it could also affect steem in a way. I know someday this will skyrocket but by that time almost everyone joins in like facebook! With or without the payoff i still think this is a great platform

as more people are joining the profits are leaving the minnows and instead the whales continue to get richer. Only way around this is by changes in HF20 or by joining something like MSP.

O thank you @nicnas, i though so too. I hope they really do change it as steemit is getting bigger by yhe day
