What happens when 4 Steemians get together for a random meet-up?

An epic adventure happened, that's what

Not quite... it just so happened that 3 Steemians are within driving distance, so we planned a Steemeetup. I'm copyrighting that term, it's mine now. Nobody can use it without my permission.

Anyhow, so I'm here in France for a "non-profit" house construction project, and @heimindanger and @french.fyde are also here. Since they are French. They live in France. Therefore, we are in the same place. Which means we are able to meet. Hence, we met up.

We decided to do a BBQ

How fucking boring, I know right? Well, it gets better. We actually did it in the middle of a forest. Since @french.fyde owns a small garden that somehow is located within that forest, and we had the BBQ in his garden (I might not have written a stranger sentence).

I know my posts are usually very wordy, so this time I'll try something new and let the pictures do the talking!

In which case, I'm not sure if I'll be happy if this post performs better than my previous ones, since that might mean that my writing is so shitty that I can only get some kind of results by using pictures...

So if I skip all the boring travel and logistic details, we finally made it to our locale, and I did mention that we were doing the BBQ in a forest so --

That was the path we took to walk into the forest. I used an iPhone photo app to edit all the pictures I took today, and I'm happy to report that I might understand what it feels like to be an insecure girl in her pre-teens now.

@french.fyde's garden. You can see him "gardening" off in the distance over there.

I'm not sure what these are, like tomatoes or whatever. If any of you have any idea, please go ahead and educate me.

Busy bee pic I snapped while waiting for them to setup the BBQ pit. I was slacking off because I'm a lazy bastard.

BBQ pit setup in progress...

All done, and ready to cook. Sadly, we overcooked the beef since we were too busy talking and drinking like alcoholics.

Photo I snapped of our French friend who tagged along (this not @heimindanger or @french.fyde, just a friend we brought along to help us with the BBQ since we're all lazy). He fashions himself as the French version of rednecks.

EDIT: Actually, my bad, apparently he does have a Steemit account but he's inactive @fayetristan

After the food/drinks, we decided to go explore the forest! We didn't go too deep in. Pics are pretty good, if I do say so myself. The experience wasn't too bad either, but there was too much cow dung and temperatures were close to 40 °C  since our area was hit by a heatwave.

A much needed break from the grind

I'm glad I was able to take a break from the work to come here and connect with friends and fellow Steemians. Maybe you think it doesn't mean much since I'm my own boss, but honestly I have other things to do, and I just decided to put things on hold while I took this trip to help a friend with something.

I think it's important to take a break from whatever it is you're doing sometimes. Give your mind a break to think about other things. So far, I've spent a lot of time during this trip thinking of what I want to achieve in the next couple of years, reflecting on what's important to me, and also just taking some time to enjoy nature and the countryside.

I hope you guys are not too caught up to take a break like this every now and then!

I personally enjoyed taking these photos and writing this post, although it's very different from what I'm used to posting. Let me know if you liked it!

Stories of Steemit becoming a stronger community are awesome and inspiring for it's potential. I always love finding a story like this.

definitely. i would say building the connections through meaningful interactions are what makes this platform so great and fun. of course, you have the mindless spamming of "bot-like" people who just copy-paste the same comment on every post, but then there's you, and me. and what we're doing now is exactly what i look forward to every day when i come on steemit.

thank you, @rotfoot!

It's a very refreshing community when you get to find new like-minded people. It really is great stuff. I love it here.

Love your new post @nnnhhh! What a beautiful rendezvous- as they call it in France, i suppose? :D Glad to see that you are having a great time to unwind and chill out with some new friends there. Very jealous of @french.fyde's garden!!! And that's some mad skills setting up a barbecue pit on the ground lol. 💜 Great photos, so beautiful out there. Thank you for sharing! ~ la vie en rose ~

sadly, i wasn't the one who set up the BBQ. i was lazing around taking photos of bees and @french.fyde's garden

i personally thought the photos i took looked great! i'm so happy that i'm not the only one who appreciates them now :)

yes, it was beautiful. i'm so glad i made this trip now. taking the time to enjoy nature and the wilderness sure does a good job of refreshing my mind and body

thanks for following my posts! really means a lot to me

This reminds me of the early days of Pokemon Go, It was like 3 am and I was chasing down a Dragonite, it was in the middle of the woods about half a mile out of town. Anyway, when I got into the area I found 3 other random people out there trying to catch it too. one of them said to me, are you here for the sacrifice too.

i never tried that game since it was launched when i was busy with the launch of a project. i rarely left the house!

Nice getting out and away, city life, well, sucks compared to the beautiful country!

cheers man! city life isn't too bad. i was born and raised in one of the busiest cities in the world. we just need a break and change of scenery sometimes, just to refresh ourselves :)

Seems like you had a good time !

sure did! had a blast walking around in the dense forest, in the middle of nowhere :p

That's awesome you met up with some nearby Steemians. But you realise that 'Steem' is literally 'Meets' backwards. You could have just called it a Steemup..

that is pretty cool, i never noticed that!
