Why I Do Not Choose the 100% SP Option for Payouts, But Power Up all Rewards Anyway!

in steemit •  8 years ago

This might sound cheesy, but I never choose the 100% payout option when I write a post and submit. I always choose the 50/50 option. Now most of you would presume that I need the money to pay my bills and convert the liquid steem to fiat, and you would have been correct, but with the cost of steem tumbling, I just power-up anyway!

Now you would think me crazy, but I do get a perverse pleasure in powering up which gives me the "warm fuzzy feeling" in my stomach. I feel power-full and in control because at today's prices, the amount of steem I get for my posts is large, and I literally drool when my SP jumps through the ranks whenever I power-up the other half of the payout!

This has made me decide that I shall continue to power-up for now, as steem is cheap, and if you read this post by @timcliff, you will notice that it is the mVest we should be looking at as investment for the long term, rather than letting our hearts sink along with the price of steem.

We have to make this work, we need to power-up as much as we can, and feel good and fuzzy about it!

So if any of you feel like this, welcome to the club, which does not exist yet. But it can (The Fuzzy Steemers Club?), so let me know in the comments!

I choose the 50/50 option, as I usually give away 20% of my liquid Steem to new minnows to help them have a better day. I feel 100% SP is faithful, yes, but a little greedy too...(just my philosophy!!) @mindhunter

That's very kind of you. I too have spent some of my earlier earnings in promoting steemit, but the low price now is making me power-up.
And Thank you.

There is a strange law at work on Steemit: First you have to give to get ;)

I'd say that was true for anything "crypto" :))

Thanks for inspiring tomorrows post: 'There is a strange law at work on Steemit: First you have to give to get.' :))

That should make great reading! :))

(agreed on the crypto thing!)

me too. use it prizes in contests. but not all my posts are 50/50 some are full power. Im too poor to decline. Who does that that's not a whale or witness?

Being empathetic & charitable is nothing to do with being a minnow or whale - it can come from either in my estimation. These are just labels here - they do not represent the real person typing these words :)

These whales among us :D
Doing the same BTW!

Good to hear that :))

interesting
thanks for sharing!
ive been pretty much doing the same lol

I figured I couldn't be the only one :))

With all this powering up around me, I just went long on sensu-beanes.

Go with whatever suits you! Thanks!

I've been doing the 100% thing lately, but I've run out of SBD to promote my posts so I've just had a couple of posts-worth of 50-50.

I Power Up whenever I can because I want my vote to add value to a post I'm voting on - I believe that's the way SteemIt works and can only work if more people do that.

Good Luck! :)

Annnnd... the next post I read says we no longer get SBD from our posts!

LOL Looks like I missed the boat and I'll have to purchase some SBD now!

Lol, now you know

up voted and followed

Thank you and followed you too.

IMHO, I do not believe in putting all my hard earned Steem into Steem Power after reading @brianphobos comment in https://steemit.com/steem/@steve-mcclair/r-i-p-steemit-my-thoughts-good-and-bad-about-the-steemit-platform :

"...Unfortunately even if I traded my house for STEEM POWER my vote would only be worth enough to buy a Snickers candy bar..."

The man has a good rep and is a respected Steemit community member. He's not joking on that post.

Yes I read that and I felt what he said. But I am optimistic, and have seen a lot change during the 4/5 months I have been around. The site is still in beta, may sound like a cliche, but it is what it really is, and I believe it will change for the better before opening up.

Here's one hoping you are right. Cheers!
