I just upvoted a post and they lost 4 cents!

Ok, I just signed up on steemit, in the process of transferring my content here. I just was reading a post and I liked it so I upvoted it, thinking it would increase their revenue. However, I noticed they lost 4 cents. Does anyone have an explanation for that?

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

  • Disagreement on rewards
  • Fraud or plagiarism
  • Hate speech or trolling
  • Miscategorized content or spam
