You CAN SUCCEED on Steemit!

To all those that are new here and are trying Steemit out for the first time, I thought i would give you guys some pointers, I was in the same boat as all you less than a week ago.

I will start off with saying that it doesn't matter what your content is, if its a subject you are confident with and know alot about, then go for it!

Stories about something you know well always work better, readers can tell if the poster is not confident in their subject, so keep your content on subjects personal to you. Do you have something unique that you can bring to the table? If so - talk about it! We want to hear about it.

This is what makes Steemit so great, we can hear different people's experiences from all walks of life.
Perhaps there is something unique to your geographical area or you have an interesting hobby, these subjects get alot of attention here.

Give it time - I cant emphasize this enough. You wont always see results overnight, I know I didn't, and I along with others were asking around here what was going on, and after listening to most of the advice I've heard, I can tell you that its correct.

If your into photography, thats great. I must warn that this is a very competitive section so extra care must be taken to make your posts attractive, don't just post your photos without much description, tell your story about them - every photo tells a unique story. What country did you take them in? What is unique about the subject?

There are countless landscape photos out there, so if you have something that is different and unique, the better.
The idea is to think outside the box.
Tell your story about the photo and I also suggest you sometimes ignore the photography tag altogether if the photo has a good story to tell, it will sell itself. Instead talk about the subject in the photo, remember a picture tells 1000 words!

You can always hashtag it under photography, and along with a few other tags - but DON'T overdo it!
Too many hashtags by spamming lots of categories will do the opposite.

A good title for your post is important, along with an eye catching photo. Remember this is the first thing that readers see when scrolling through the pages here.

For example this is my classic car ive owned for 12 years now, out of all my photos of the car, I used this as the thumbnail, well, I think its pretty obvious without having to explain!

Now most people in my area would not be interested in this "old" British car, but when i did a story on this, it got alot of attention, mainly in part because in places such as the USA, they never have ever seen such a car before.
So even if something does not interest you much, it certainly has the potential to interest others, so its good to keep this in mind.

Another thing to keep in mind that Steemit is not just a blog, it can be practically ANYTHING you want it to be!
Do you like doing instructional videos and how-to's? Then go ahead and post your video if you have one, although I still recommend using step by step photos and written instructions like what you see on instructables etc.

Remember that Steemit is still very new, and you have the opportunity to start off something new here, a bit like being the first with a big youtube channel.

The work you do now will pay off in the years to come. This is a truly exciting experience, and the subjects are unlimited. There are many subjects that have not even been touched here, take science and technology for example - there are many fields in this group, and many more in virtually any other subject.

Everyone has a story to tell about something, and there are others what want to hear.
So get your thinking caps on and start blogging - only YOU have the ability to succeed, and it depends on how much YOU want it!
