History of Steemit
Steemit was launched in July 4th, 2016 by steemit, Inc. Steemit Inc is a private company with it's headquarters in Virginia. Steemit unlike WordPress and others is a blogging and social networking site which is powered by the steem blockchain database. Steemit pays people that uploads contents such as articles, pictures, videos etc with steem and steem dollars. These are tradable tokens users get for posting contents, discovering good content and commenting on interesting contents.
How it works
As a new user you start with a reputation pegged at 25, As you post contents and get voted your reputation gradually increases. Your reputation also grows when you upvote and comment on good content (curating). As you do all these you get rewarded. The reward comes in a cryptocurrency token named steem and US dollar pegged tokens called Steem Dollars.
