Good question. Let's take examples from real world like Formula 1 racing point system as much as few contests here on Steemit itself, like @originalworks. There are two important aspects to consider towards the point system (as in F1) or the prize (as on @originalworks). These are:
- Differential rating (or earning) based on position or rank
- A larger spread
What do these mean? The first point means that there should be some incentive for people to top and not just attempt to be in the top group. If the first 3 get the same point then they won't attempt to be one but just one out of three. The quality of output is therefore different. The second point means that while the topper should be awarded more but the general participation should also be rewarded. In doing so, more participants should be covered. Hence, the prize should be able to cover more participants.
Taking these points into consideration, this is how I will award the participants. This award system will cover around 45 participants for the award of 300 Steem.
Of course, we can play with the top prize to cover even more participants as the number of participants increase. Alternately, increasing the prize and then reworking the number of participants covered.
From the moment in which one sees (300) steem woao .. the first thing that him comes to the mind is to come of first. But when time the table of premiacion to my opinion only deberian the first 10 places to be rewarded. This forces every participant to give the better thing of. And the one that does not achieve to be between the first 10 places his effort was obvious even many mas. this is in order that every person has major intention and if it is possible to double the prize of the first place serious very well
Well it is 150 steem for the first place and the rest they distribute between the remaining 9 places, in such a way that the difference between the first place always is seen as the goal mas coveted For future competitions

Thank you @fjburgoscoronado for your suggestion.
i think it's very risky to give half of reward to first place. that would end up with outrage and as an person managing contest you would deal with many angry people.
But that's just my opinion. Thx for sharing yours.

in this way it is like doing a filter and that the gap between the first place is always the most relevant on the rest of the participants, with this I mean for example:
If I am an aspiring participant to be among the top 10 places, do I have to give my best? and if the result is that I am number 11 or even worse I am not even among the first 50 my reaction is to capture all the support and vital information to participate in futaras competitions, the essential thing is that people do not get discouraged because they do not have a prize but that they feel proud of having participated because the greatest prize that we obtain as participants is knowledge.
Of course this is just an opinion in the middle of millions of heads. millions of languages so to speak every head is a world. we do not all think the same. thank you for your response dear friend blessings for you
