#Steemit - Why Does The $ Amount Go Down Over Time?

in steemit •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hi everyone,

I wonder 'Why the $ earned for each post is listed next to the upvote button go down over time?'

Can anyone help me answer this question, please?

Thank you so much for your answers!

I was wondering the same thing

@weldmaster we got some answer on the comments down below :)

I think it has to do with ppls voting power, it goes down the more you upvote... check yours out (or anyones) at https://www.steemnow.com

Thank you so much @ingkoy your answer is helpful :)

Hey there! I think it is a system that is designed to give value to topics that are relevant. With time, the relevancy of a post is supposed to go down. You wouldn't watch a youtube video about the best cpus from 1999 if you want to know what the best cpus are in 2017.
But don't take my word for it, I'm still new and I don't know much about the code behind steemit :)

@thefrogpepe thank you for your answer :) we got some more helpful answer on the comments down below too.

Yeah great question, was just about to ask the same. I assume it must have to do with the actual market value of Steem - and since all cryptos are being brutalized on the market today the value of our posts drops accordingly. Maybe someone else can confirm?

Thank you @larksongbird we got some helpful comments down below too

@bpplending thank you :) followed you too!

Thank you :)

My guess is that currently the value of STEEM is going down wrt to $, that is why you see the price shrinking. I also think this may happen if everyone removes their upvotes, but on my few posts this didn't happen so I have to take that the STEEM value is going currently down. In the future it may go up again though (:

@s4m0ht thank you for your answer :) we got some more helpful answer on the comments down below too.

It's because payouts depend on the Voting Power of voters. The more you vote, the more this power goes down, and the rewards go down as well.
People who vote for your post will upvote other stuff, so the payouts are diluted.
