Mandela Day! 18 July 2017. @papilloncharity

Last year, 2016, a 6.9km walk was held at the Rietvlei Zoo Farm for The Papillon Foundation and the entry fees were tinned food or blankets! Papillon collected about 1 ton of goods and delivered all to the Munsieville Squatter Camps on Mandela Day.

The year before in 2015, Papillon spent Mandela Day at an old age home for poor pensioners. We partnered with a beauty company to give the oldies free massages, manicures and pedicures.

Now here's the thing! On Mandela Day everyone is supposed to give 65 minutes of their time, goods or money to charities, non profits and other worthy causes. Some feed children, others paint walls, yet others fix roofs and so on.
At Papillon we do this every day, but to honor Mandela Day, we do something special on the day as our finances allows. But this is normally our problem. Finances.

This Mandela Day, 2017, we will again spend our time at a worthy cause that does not have any support on Mandela Day, even though Papillon also has no support. Our charity is too small and most supporters go to the big charities, as their media exposure is better after the event. How do I know this. Well we've been doing the Mandela Day every year since 2002.
I would say that this lends me some experience in these matters.
