The pros and cons of an unstable Steem Dollar price

in steemit •  7 years ago  (edited)

The Steem Dollar, as you probably know by now, was intended to run 1:1 with the USD. This would mean that 1 SBD would be equal to 1 USD.
However this has not been the case for a few months now. The SBD has been acting like a normal cryptocurrency.

The good thing about this is obvious: creators will get a lot more money for their content than they normally would. This is a great thing for Steemit at the moment as it is really helping to grow this platform.
Steemit and DTube are still pretty new so with a high payout, new creators are much more likely to join.

The bad thing about an unstable Steem Dollar price is a bit more complicated and something I discuss further in the video. I hope you find this interesting and let me know what you think in the comments.

one big benefit to the platform that is currently nice, but could go away depending on how popular Dtube gets is how much easier it is to get views and likes etc. on here rather than youtube. on youtube, if you had uploaded these identical videos, i guarantee i would never have found your videos or channel. on Dtube you were on my front page. i don't know if they have an algorithm that intentionally recommends smaller creators, or if it just isn't popular enough for the home page to be saturated yet, but whatever it is it is a very big positive to this platform.

Yes I agree with you 100%. Well said, man
