The daily number of posts on the Steem blockchain is increasing. I think it's due to the high value of the SBD. As a result, payouts are much higher.

Hopefully, it isn't just whales posting more shit posts (usually the case), in order to get more dough. I hate it when they post the same things over and over again, and earn hundreds of dollars because of it... shits gotta stop.

I know what you mean, I also think most of the new accounts created are whale's alt accounts. Steemit somehow still works on a pyramid scheme, so whales will always be getting the biggest % go the reward pool no matter what they do or write. The main idea of "you get paid for creating good content" is not so true after all. But in my opinion is not all bad, you can still swim through whales and get some of the cake for yourself. Remember this is in beta so I think a massive change will set things in some other perspective for all, I hope so.

In regards to the increase of posts... just my thoughts.

The holiday season is here so more people have personal life events to share.
The cryptocurrency value and news exposure have brought people back to steemit
More involvement within communities and "contests" are being conducted

Not sure, just what I have either seen; or what my instinct is telling me

And then there are people like me - seeing this huge gift as a bonanza and posting like cray cray.

I'm keeping 4 posts in each day. As soon as the 4th one goes to "yesterday" I post again.

I'm also posting 30+ comments daily. I recently made over $6 payout on 3 comments. This is going to be a $2 sbd payout which is worth 22 usd.

Twenty Two USD!!!!!

It took less than 10 minutes to write those 3 comments.

I can hardly breathe - forcing myself to eat and sleep and exercise so I don't fall apart. Not stopping until...

It's amazing how, once you kind of get a routine and figure some aspects out, how you can use to your advantage. You can gain reputation quicker, share more and even become more solidified as an active and positive steemian.

Yes, I am so grateful I got into the habit of commenting so much. It's really made the difference for me. When I started, my posts were getting 10 cents so I had no choice. Now they are paying better, but still usually round $2. My daily commenting is still worth more.

lol - I'm the result of several failed platforms over the years. I seem to get there when it's going well and then when the money starts to come for me - they are gone! I feel like the iron is hot at steemit right now. Hopefully I don't jinx anything :)
