Guess that it has to do, that also people are dropping out. Lots of the new people are allured by the money factor here and hope to get rich based on one post. Once they noticed that hard work and involvement is required they drop out!
Also not everybody logs on everyday.
But I could be wrong with this assumption.

Great sexond day in a row more than 10k new accounts approved. If they can continue this pace the future looks bright.
New account means more content and hopefully also a more diverse content. Why is this important? It is easer to glu to new Steemians to this community if they do find enough content which they like. People who do find peers, based on shared interest, will stay longer and produce more content, making Steemit more valuable.
Which will attract more new Steemians.
This will create a huge snowball effect!

With your statistics, I observed that the price of Steem affect the users effectiveness. On the 2018/03/10 the level of usage reduce dratically due to the fall in pricein steem and SBD and little transaction was made that day.
That day recorded the lowest number of post,
Lowest number of comment and
Lowest number of upvote.

The following day, when there was appreciation i the price of steem, everything increased also.
