Steemit Inc. has finally created a lot of new Steem accounts again. 4,108 new accounts yesterday and another 1,575 the day before. Some people must have been waiting for weeks for their account. Finally. Welcome to Steem everyone!

Welcome to my Steem Stats Report for Thursday, January 10, 2019. All data comes directly from the Steem blockchain and is based on UTC time.

3. Daily accounts transacting

A 'transacting account' is a Steem account that made at least one transaction on the Steem blockchain. This can be a vote, post, comment, transfer, power up or sbd conversion. Users who only read from the Steem blockchain without interacting are not included. The actual number of 'Active users' is therefore much higher than the accounts transacting.

Where does the steem power for new accounts come from?

Wouldn’t the best way to reduce the number of circulating steem be to create more and more accounts?

Free accounts get 15SP delegated from @steemit . Purchased account need to buy SP from an exchange.

do you know how long they are delegated the 15 sp?

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

No. I do know they reduce it as soon as you gain some steem power so that you stay at 15 in total.

Knowing how many accounts are below 15SP (not counting delegation) might be a good indication on how many dead accounts are there.

We need a way to burn steem, a way that will create demand to burn steem. That will really help with increasing the prices

This is good! Let's keep the ball rolling and intensify effort in advertising Steem.

Nothing is good. Steemit is shrinking on all fronts.

And guess who is responsible!?

The greed of the whales. And there is such a simple quick fix: Switch to the sub-linear / √x reward curve.

I have seen so many good blogger left because there rewards where miniscule.

And not to forget Steemit dragging there food on account creation. But that might be greet as well.

Completely true! Don't forget some ninja-mining done by ned and STINC before publishing Steem.

Steem will rise again.

Great analysis! Love the data presented. Interesting that the number of posts have shown a consistent decline with a more recent increase since around the start of the new year. Why the spike in account creation every 20 odd days? Is this when admin process requests?

Yes, Steemit Inc. is manually checking the new sign ups.

Thanks for your post. Do you know why Steemit Inc. doesn't automate the sign-ups?

They try to filter out the spam accounts.

Thanks @penguinpablo but I suppose I'm more interested in the periodicity of the account creation.

Let us check the category of "new posts" to really know if those 4k account have really made a post.

Nonetheless, it is a good sign that many new accounts have been approved and this new people with their eagerness, will boost the number of transactions in the weeks to come.

thanks @penguinpablo for the regular data you are sharing to us.

Not really.

There is a spike of new accounts about once a month. And that spike is getting smaller each round. There is also one spike missing and yet the following spike isn't at all larger.

Steem is shrinking.

So, fewer postings, fewer comments, fewer upvotes, fewer new accounts and a huge dip when HF20 was deployed.

That doesn't look good at all —Steemit is shrinking on all fronts.

The sad truth. Hopefully SMTs will change the gear.

Either they were busy focusing on the mess after the lay offs or it took much longer for them to get a load of new users.

What happened on the 26, 27 and 28 September? Daily number of posts, comments, votes and accounts transacting show an anomalously low number during this period which looks strange.

hardfork and blockchain freezing

Thanks @kayceefresh

Hard-fork 20 aka a software update.

Thanks @krischik Only new to Steemit.

How can I get the data or the Api by myself

Do I need to download the whole blockchain?Thx

There are various ways. I mostly use steem.js to read the blockchain using Javascript: https://github.com/steemit/steem-js

Thank you very much.

Thanks for your post.
