Writing a good introduction about yourself seems to be the thing that starts most people off, I've even seen some about me pages gain lots of steem, followers, and upvotes.
I'm not sure what exactly gets people excited because mine only got a few views, but others I've seen at 100s.
That and adding photos/formatting your posts goes a long way.
