When I joined steemit, I joined with the intention of creating my own content because I knew that it will be visible not only to those on steemit but also to anyone using the internet that gets to search on anything related to my content.
On being active and participating on steemit, I started seeing some steemit users posting copied contents and pictures they probably got from the internet without an indication of the source and copyright or permission to copy these post or pictures (plagiarism), and they were earning big by doing so with no warnings or sanctions. So, I decided to join the crew.
- At first, I copied a story I read from the internet and shared on steemit but @cheetah commented. I was very afraid of what will happen next like will i be sanctioned or expelled without bordering if the post will be downvoted or not but fortunately. nothing happened. I repented on this act and decided to always include the source or references used in my post if I ever copied.
- A couple of times, I will download photos from the internet to backup my posts and will get away with it.
Recently, i realised my post was downvoted by a few steemit users and finally by @blacklist probably because I used a random from the internet and this resulted in the reward for the post to go down to zero. I'm happy about this!
Also, @steemcleaner reply on my post with a warning that included what I should and shouldn't do. I have read and understood it clearly.
I'm happy that we now have "discipline masters" on steemit that i had long desired and I have been disciplined by them very well. I hope that always do their jobs correctly and I also hope that we all help to develop and promote steemit with our self made contents.
This post is just to declare my repentance or change on steemit for good to once again, respect the terms and policies of the steemit community and hope that it gets to steemit users that have been plagiarism.

I too am new to Steemit and wondered what measures are in place to discourage plagiarism, sensationalism and other clickbaity type behaviours. Is it only reactionary community moderation governing this then?
