You can earn easy passive income on Steemit by doing nothing, literally. This is a simple tutorial how to do it!
You have probably heard of curation, where you can earn money by upvoting popular content. Now you can do this automatically, by signing up to a service that will do this.
First of all, grab your private posting key (WARNING IT'S SENSITIVE INFORMATION), anyone who knows this can post and upvote on your behalf, but can't steal the money from your Steemit account. So make sure you agree to this.
Go to your Profile>Wallet>Permissions, and then click on SHOW PRIVATE KEY
, it will show you the private key after the button turns into HIDE PRIVATE KEY
. This key is confidential, so make sure you will only give it to the websites you will sign up to.
1) Sign up to STEEMSTREET
Add your account and private posting key, and that is is. Sign out, and now they will vote on your behalf, earning you curation rewards automatically. You don't have to do anything else on this website, it is automatic.
2) Sign up to STEEMVOTER
After signing up add your account the same way as above, then click on RULES
and start adding there people you want to vote on one by one and click on SAVE RULE
after writing in every name manually. You can basically add every big whale or people who post about content your like, I'll leave it up to you.
Please add me too there, by writing my name in profitgenerator
and then click SAVE RULE
, so that you will upvote my posts too. I am starting to earn bigger curation rewards now, so you will earn profit by automatically upvoting my content.
It usually takes 24 hours to get approved here after you signup, but it's all automatic, you will start earning rewards from here after 24 hours.
Thats it, now you will earn money automatically, you don't have to do anything just watch your curation profit grow, by going to
http://steemwhales.com/YOUR_USERNAME
If you check my curation, I started automating my curation a few days ago, and my curation rewards grew from 640 to 1480, and now averaging about +200 daily.
Your curation profit can be seen here: https://steemit.com/@YOUR_USERNAME/curation-rewards
I've earned about 1 Steem Power in the last 7 days, and it relates to how much STEEM POWER you have, so if you want to earn more curation rewards, make sure you POWER UP by Buying some Steem Power!
profitgenerator has justified his nickname once again :)

Automatic upvoting on posts you haven't read. Right?
This stinks, IMHO. Is the main goal of Steemit to make money, or to support quality material, engagement through posting and comments, building community and discussion? A bot can't tell if something is quality, or if you personally appreciate what someone is posting. Not for me.
I wonder if no compensation at all for upvoting is the way to go to clean up the money game on Steemit. Earn compensation for your posts that get upvoted. But not for your upvoting. People would still upvote - and it would be more authentic and honest.
I just wrote a blog on Steemit about this. If interested - click my name, and check it out. Thank you.

Yep, it's a solid busines model. I have described this system in my earlier article, and we need more curation guilds like these:
https://steemit.com/steem/@profitgenerator/steem-curation-as-a-business-model
My voting power is at 80%, it is barely being used even with 2 guilds voting on my behalf.

So I took your post as the impetus to start using a bot service. I had been looking at Steem Voter but I guess I was just putting it off. Now I am in , but I wonder with SV and Steem Street, can I still vote for folks or will it try to vote behind me and uncheck my vote? And will they show up as already voted when I scan through articles on my own?

Yes, all those 2 voting pools have been functioning for a long time, and big whales use it too.
If the community would have not liked it, then they would have been downvoted a long time ago, but so far the SteemVote posts all earn >200$ so it's safe to say that most whales approve of this practice.

I use Steemvoter and it's earning a similar amount to you, but you need to have some SP before you will make anything. I had to have a few hundred before I started making anything from curation. People can use @steemsports to earn some to start with if their posts are not making much

I know some have invested a lot and the current low Steem price should make it attractive. You can earn a nice amount from the interest and curation, if you are happy to have it tied up for a while. All my Steem gets powered up. I just put in a few dollars of Bitcoin when I started.

I kinda wanted to be like this too. But then I kept seeing posts I wound have voted for going by and I only found them days later. That's not good for either the author or me. I mean, it's not bad, but it's not as good. So I guess I want to do both, read good articles and vote on them, and automatically vote when I am sleeping or otherwise AFK.

Is there some penalty for rewards if the voting power is too low? Or you get the same reward regardless of your voting power %?

Yes, I know that I am overdoing it. Using SteemTrail and SteemVoter at the same time is quite demanding on the VP level :)

Yeah but is there some penalty for the rewards if the SP gets below certain level or is it the same?

I think it replenishes after 24 hours.

I don't bother, actually. I like to upvote my friends and check the steemvoter logs to read their posts.
But if you are after the curation profits then you should be more careful with your VP. Don't misuse it :)

Whales are after profit, some people vote up content just to make money, but if others dont vote it up then they wont make optimal profits.
So eventually only the good qualiy content will get upvoted with most power. Bots or not, the free market has a very good mechanism to reward high quality stuff.
So if a person is greedy and wants to optimize his curation profit, he will either way have to upvote people who are popular.

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

Well if a person has a good track record writing something then it is likely that their future posts will be good too.
And when their quality decreases you can just remove them. Liking authors is fun now, but imagine doing it 5-10 years liking people would be very boring, so automation is not a bad thing, it will make boring things go away so that you can focus on better things.

I realize this is an old post, but I have some questions regarding this, and I'd rather comment it on the relevant post instead of off-topic commenting on your latest post.
Since HF19 was released, is passive income on your past posts still possible? (Was it ever? I had read several posts when I first joined that you could earn passive income from your old posts if people upvoted them after the first payout cycle.)
Also, how much has HF19 changed curation rewards? Because I honestly can't tell if there's a difference in my curation earnings or not.
I'm sorry for the minnow questions. I've been looking into it for a while, but I'm struggling to make any sense of it.
