Secrecy is Repugnant

One of the most important speeches of all time noted that secrecy is an act that defeats itself. John F. Kennedy, in his speech to reporters and the American people on April 27th 1961 said that, "secrecy is repugnant in a free and open society". Many have speculated on to what he was talking to exactly. Yet the clear statement in this speech is a deposition of secrecy and the concealment of information.

This theme of secrecy has always been in the human psyche. We like to be in the know of a secret and despise when we are not. A push for transparency is something that I am personally always striving for. Being honest and giving all the information I can when the question arises. This does not mean you make your personal thoughts known in a constant flow of dialogue or writing. What I am talking about is simply being honest when someone asks a question. Secrecy is a hidden pool of water that ends up going stagnant, breeding mosquitoes. Make the secret transparent to the world and the world will keep the water fresh.

Secrecy is what will collapse the economy and keep the human race from growing. We have a long way to go before we can clearly say that we take care of each other and thrive on all corners of this planet. Living in a time of technology and constant change is something that our grandparents couldn't even dream of, yet we still have a society built around their dreams.

If you are reading this than you know that Steem and all Blockchain/Crypto Currencies will be the next revolution. Some coins are built on secrecy and this are what we should strive to avoid. Most people should not care if others can see the ledger of all transactions. It doesn't have to have your name attached, just the wallets that the coins come from and go to. The point is to make currency better and equal for all human beings, not sustain this black market and black budget money scheme. When you look at history and the reality of secrecy you will find that every time we hide things from people a black stain comes to sit on all that is hidden. When the secret is given out - which it always is in time - your name will be attached to the black stain, and trust me when I say that this stain is hard to wash out.

Why is transparency and honesty important in the world of Blockchain/Crypto Currencies? AI - put simply. Artificial Intelligence is going to wipe the slate clean and take you for a ride if you let it deal in secret wallets and secret data. When you hide information and put up walls you will only keep the good people from using it. Allowing secrecy will allow the mosquitoes to thrive. What would happen if someone develops AI that is geared to deal with the stock market or crypto market? If the creators of that AI had the goal of massing wealth then you will watch as that AI plays you and convinces you to sell out of fear and pity. Creating shorts and bubbles to mess up even the most adept analysis of the markets. Watching the markets crash around you and then buying up everything before you could even push the buy button. Where does the money go to? Who knows since we allow secrecy to take place.

Take 13 minutes and watch this video. It isn't even very recent, yet it discusses AI with some people that know a thing or two about it - and yet Obama knows what AI can do since he has the top minds in the world briefing him.

Secrecy is the key to that whole conversation. How do you know where something is if it's easy to hide? How do you know where something came from if...? My prediction for the future is that the world will be moving faster than our brains can even comprehend. Having transparency will give us a clear avenue to follow the trails that are important and allow us to have a glimpse of change before it takes hold. We complain about how our own leaders give money to those that hurt us yet we can't follow that trail. We watch as companies sideline human rights and the environment for profit yet we don't know until it's too late. Why would you support blockchain coins that let these things happen faster and easier? Adding AI to the mix will only make the misquito growth exponential.

Let's get with reality here and support the technology and ideas that are open, honest, and transparent. As much as we want to keep our information hidden there is much more to lose when we can't even find ourselves.
