Congratulations and Happy steemit birthday! :) I started following @dog-marley not long after I joined and have enjoyed many posts from both of your accounts. Your generous and fun weekly contest has given me several SBI shares which I also greatly appreciate. Congratulations! :) - one year steemit - unbelievable it is already one year since this madness started at our home - haha - we truly had and have a lot of funny moments because of this - but you also get less food cooked fresh in the evening since we are all busy ;)) - sooo let's eat more pizza and steem on :))))

1 Year on Steem, that's interesting, I'm at 364 days and was thinking to write something like that. May I take some inspiration (I hope I'm not a copycat) from that?^^

Funny to see a total different approach at things here on Steem with almost the same start date. Way too much similarities. Good to know, that I’m not alone. 😄

Btw. I’m not coming empty handed. It’s small, but at least it’s something.

I was so happy to have you on CHAOS Show. (I miss that crazy adventure)
How awesome, that you are on Steemit a year now. Went by pretty fast, eh? I haven't posted in so long, I pretty much forgot everything I learned about coding. I should start posting again, but I'm spending my time these days looking for employment. 2018 was a bugger. 2019 remains to be seen...
I'm glad you're still posting.

Hi Pundito and thank you for this nice anniversary Report. I had my first year a few weeks ago and can you tell a very similar story!
Now i love Steem and the whole community behind steemit aaaand... i believe in a future with steemit.

Congrats on the Steem bday!!! I remember you told us in the alldutch server about being invited to the radio show. It's always fun to read about people growing on Steemit, the bumps along the way and lessons we've learned. Thanks for sharing, and we will read the 2 year Steemian post in 2020 :-)

It's good that you share your story of this first year in steemit.
It really happens to many that when we start something, we do not have the slightest idea of what we should do, my start in steemit with my first post was a disaster, little by little I was introduced to the use of labels, the editing guide , the fact of comment to value content and have more interaction.
You mention something very important, we can have as many followers as possible, but the important thing is that they are active, that they have the commitment to read and comment, to support, because that is what it is, to give.
Or at least for me it is like that.

I remember the very first @dog-marley-post. I didn't know who was behind it back then.

A lot of the things you say sound very recognizable, except for the radio show, then ;0)

I arrived here without any knowledge too, struggling my way through those first weeks (months?), until I was picked up by @newbieresteemday. Suddenly, I had a family here. I became part of the community and started to love it.

I arrived here about 3 months earlier than you, right before Steem reached its ATH. So, just like you, I bought Steem at $4 and at $0.22, and a lot of prices in between.

I always like to hear people say they still believe in the Steem blockchain. There is a lot of negativity around. And I do understand that, because there are plenty of things that could - no, should - be improved, preferrably sooner than later. But in spite of all that, this is an amazing community and a blockchain with loads of possibilities. I just hope that enough people will keep believing...

Many people come to steemit for the (easy) money and stayed because of the people/community after finding out that there is no easy money anymore ... or they just leave again.
The people who are still here are a strong community supporting each other and new arrivers have a hard time starting here - especially after HF20. Who survives these heavy first months will be integrated.

Even now, when we see @ned sell all his steem I still believe in this idea of a blockchain based social network.
The question for me was: Do we need "a sort of" Ned?
My answer: I don't think so.
So let him do whatever he likes to do - this platform does not need a CEO.

That's why I still believe steem and steemit can be successful.
That and the great people I met here are the reason why I'm still here.

But who's going to make decisions then? The witnesses? A lot of them are still those large stakeholders that will do what's best for their own wallet. As a result, the rich will get richer, the less fortunate will be left behind (in other words, nothing will change).

A democracy? History has shown us that a democracy is definitely not a good solution, in fact it is a dangerous thing.

I always say: you can' t expect a flock of sheep to make a smart decision when it comes to picking who will be the farmer.

The people who are still here are a strong community supporting each other and new arrivers have a hard time starting here - especially after HF20. Who survives these heavy first months will be integrated.

The problem is thqt HF20 made it impossible for them.to get integrated. Last week I set up a delegation contest for promising people that had 60sp or less. Not a sïngle entry.

So I went looking for people that had been featured in the @heyhaveyamet posts. There I noticed all those promising newcomers left after their second or third post. I can't blame them.
With only enough RC to make 1 post and 5 comments a day, you don't get a long way...

If they don't change this soon, the ship will eventually go down, I'm afraid...

So, in case you know of some promising newcomers who need an extra push go get going, feel free to send them my way. I have some delegations waiting to be handed out...

I agree with everything you said above.

But who's going to make decisions then? The witnesses?

Well, isn't that the case already?
What did Ned do the last months? Talking about projects (SMT, Destiny, etc.) - that's it.
I did not see anything really happening - only talks.
For me, it looks like: clearing the wallet and then try to sell the company (which might not even be a bad idea).

Sometimes I try to find promising newcomers for @pifc. I'll let you know when I find a diamont ;)
