My full time employer decreased my hours so I'm forced to find side jobs through a job site. (Bummer!)
I landed a part time job with the person who's using Steemit. He doesn't know he recruited me here.
What got my attention is the dollar amount on every post. I say: What the hell? Why Facebook isn't doing this?!?! Mark Zuckerberg must be earning a lot and not sharing their money.
We all know the answer to the question: Will I spend time to a site and that does not pay?!
2nd day of work to my Steemit client and I decided to join! I must earn money like him!! (Thanks client.)
I hope he doesn't read this though. I'm not sure if he's going to be happy to see me here. I didn't tell him I'm joining.
What remains to be seen (I've only been here for a day now myself) is how well that translates to actual earnings. Example: my intro post says $20+ but when I check my wallet, the estimated dollar value is only $1. It will be very interesting to learn more about that and how well we can trust the numbers on posts that we see.

Hi, you have to wait 7 days to redeem that money. That's why you don't see reflected on your wallet. Then you can do whatever you want with it.
In my first week posting there are some interesting earnings. But it remains how good your content is. Either way, even if there is only a penny per post, I'm winning certainly more than with another social platform.
So I'll hope with some months writing and up voting stuff from the community I can achieve some regular earnings. But we would see...
Greetings from Mexico my friend.

The confusing part is that anything is in my wallet at all given I just signed up a day or two ago. I know that the payout for your specific activity tallies for a week before paying out, but then how is there anything in my wallet? Of course, nothing is in my wallet yet, it's the "estimated account value" that shows a small figure of ~$1. Where does it get that estimate when my intro post alone is sitting over $20 in potential payout?

This is so confusing! But for now I'll continue posting. Like @neuerko said, there's more here than any other social platform.
