Save some VP by not giving bonus votes on comments and put that towards randomly boosting top level posts that have been randowhale'd by people other then the author.

This one. Stress the randowhale'd by people other then the author.' This way @randowhalebonus is actually a bonus based on people that aren't just trying to profit themselves.

Concur. I had done this in the past when someone suggested that it shows you are willing to support the platform using actual funds but after careful thought it seems rather it is as you said. People that use @randowhale on their own posts are like those that self voting. It isn't so much about profiting the platform as much as it is about one profiting their self. Not cool.

My philosophy has shifted to "If you build it, they will come." that is when you create solid content. The upvotes, resteems and comments will come naturally. I also will admit that I have engaged in self voting as well if I earnestly believe my post to be of quality but I just need to have more faith in the community I reckon.

It's true, I'm a minnow and If I didn't upvote myself I would have 1 view and 1 upvote worth 0.01 cent after putting like 2 HOURS into a post that I really think people would like. I've used randowhale twice to upvote my posts and it makes it at least so my hard work doesn't go unnoticed and isn't a total waste of time. I'm currently waiting for him to wake up so someone in the world can see my latest posts other than me lol.... :(

Like I said to @seveaux. Keep you chin up @rebeccagomez! I've also had the experience of high effort posts not getting recognized. Sometimes our work may not get recognized when we expect. Even if it is truly good, it could take some time. I alluded to Van Gogh whose fame mostly was not achieved during his life which was tragic. I think we have advantages. We remain diligent with posting and helping one another. We will succeed. By the way, I have followed you and will check out your posts.

Keep your chin up @seveaux. You didn't need a bot to earn my meager upvote. I know it can be discouraging at times. I put my heart and soul into my post and some are hardly noticed. Remember, even the great artist Vincent Van Gogh didn't achieve most fame for his work until after his death. That's crazy! I'll just hope someone finds value in my work while I am yet on this side of eternity.

I suggest it be so:

Only run when voting power is above 35% and vote randomly about 10~15% of the times? with weight random between 5~10%

I believe this would be an excellent setup.
The voting power would not drain as fast, the rewards would be a real bonus.

What do you think?

Two thoughts:

Operate as a lottery in a way, choose the winner(s) at certain parts of the day - say 6 am, 12 pm, 6 pm, 12 am or at a time that has more user traffic. Maybe have the percentage awarded be dependent on who bid the most up to a certain point? This could be gamed by the user with more steem but maybe some way of delegating voting power/rewards can be discussed.
Offer a resteem feature as well, that way it would increase interactions for @randowhale and increase the visibility of participants posts, maybe offsetting not getting selected for the payout so it's not a total loss .

Easier said than done and after writing those ideas I already started seeing how they could be used unfairly - but who knows, what does everyone think?

Personally, I think there should be an option for larger upvotes if Randowhale is at a certain voting power. Let it recharge so to speak, maybe a second Randowhale that is specifically for that. To help promote larger upvoted posts(in terms of USD) and push them further up the trending/hot section.

I say this because that would be better than promoting your post using SBD through the Steemit interface. When you promote your post with SBD through the Steemit post promotion function you lose all of that SBD and likely won't get almost any of it back(unless you are a bigger dolphin/whale and have a following).

I have promoted a few of my posts before that way and it didn't get almost any benefit.

I think it would be better if you could for example, Send Randowhale 20 SBD and get an upvote worth 17 SBD to 25 SBD in total(you can get more than that and break even or make a little profit). From what I understand your post is higher on the trending/hot section potentially and you didn't have to lose all 20 SBD by using the Steemit promote function. If that is correct, that a post with higher USD upvote value is pushed up, then I see that as way better and more sustainable to minnows growing larger(as the don't lose all their SBD).

For smaller people, we can't afford to spend 20 SBD and have that post make almost nothing. The post could be great quality(not saying mine are or anything) and it won't earn the 20SBD back. When I look at most of the stuff in the promoted tab the only stuff that earns it back are whales/dolphins with followings, and the other stuff loses 95% of what they put in. Eventually you run out of SBD as a minnow and can't continue.

If people abuse that service they should be banned too, which opens up another can of worms I don't have any answer for. I do not know what can of worms it opens if you would accept large amounts.. Having a larger upvote service might be more of a manual thing then?? I am not sure of the logic for how a bot would handle that I guess. I don't know too much about that sorry!

I agree with this. If people only used @randowhale for up-voting their content (Posts) as opposed to Comments, that would likely save Voting Power. Or @randowhalebonus only gives the 1% voting power "bonus" to Posts as opposed to Comments, since Posts are generally more well-thought out and have more purpose than Comments.

Whichever option you use, your votes should return more than that the author pays you. Then the investment will have some return. If someone pays you $2 SBD and get return $1 SBD from your votes, then he is actually losing his money.

The bonus, should be exactly that. A bonus.

Randowhale should randomly vote at 100% every 2 to 3 hours. Program the bot to only vote when it reaches 100%. Then give someone the bonus vote.

I think that would be the best way to do it.

@randowhale I think if you could set up an autovote bot that will make @randowhalebonus vote once in every 10 or 20 votes of @randowhale with a bit more power, like giving 4-5$. That will be very beneficial, as people will have a random chance of getting an additional vote from @randowhalebonus that will increase the business of @randowhale And this will keep the excitement to use rando whale too. I have tried every bot voting service here. Randowhale is most reliable and that's why I love it.

I never used the randowhale thing. I guess with all the money comming in it is increasing the power of the randowhale. So why not start randomly upvoting between 0.5% and 1%. It might deplete the power a bit slower?

Or only do the upvotes every other day? Only allow 1 upvote a day? Stuff like that?

Keep it at 1%. If it's running down too fast, there's nothing to do about it because that means it is in use more than expected.
If it does not give enough reward, people might use it less, and then 1% will be fine.

Indeed. I think Equality HF19 was not such a good idea, in the end. There are too many posts and no one wants to vote ANYTHING. And voting with low % (if you know how) makes you feel like you are not being supportive...

randowhalebonus could be used as a bounty, regular price 1 dollar, bounty of 75% upvote with 7-10 SBD asking price, if not, then regular... you may need at least 2 more randowhale like account and rotate it, program to vote until it reaches 45% and then give it the two days to recharge and change between accounts... I realize once you get into 30% voting power it can take up to 4 days to get back at full power.... you can also used randowhalebonus as a loyalty vote, meaning, if you used to service more than once, then you % increase base on the # of times, for example, I used the service twice for the week, then I am entitled to used an additional 25% upvote, the higher the amount, the greater the percentage but you have to program it on a weekly basis with a cut off or else you can run the risk of draining randowhalebonus faster depending on your stats and user, make it mutually beneficial, also have to consider volume and payouts to make it competitive

1% is really low as befote we got sometimes 3 to 4% that works fine for giving 2SBD but now 1% gives nothing in reture please increase some of percentage and stopvotings in comments ti really don't like that idea

Hi @randowhale!
I've been using this quite a lot, but as I said in a previous comment, lately I don't see the value anymore (eg spend 1 SBD, and get an upvote value for 1 $, that is actually then distributed across all curators...)
Why don't you use a mix approach, like for example, using randowhalebonus only on those cases where the upvote value is going to be less or close to 1 SBD? So just use it to compensate?
I don't know if this is possible nor how, but at the end of the day, what I want to see is my post worths more than what I invested! I don't really care if it comes from regular randowhale, or randowhalebonus.

I'd like to see posts voted for by others given a higher percentage, perhaps a minimum.

So if you vote on your own post you get 1% if you do it on someone else's they get at least 10%
