Yesterday marked my second appearance the Neocash Radio podcast! We discussed some of the newer "big names" joining Steem... such as @larkenrose, @sterlinluxan, Jeff Berwick ( @dollarvigilante ), Free Talk Live host Ian Freeman ( @ftlian ) and Dogecoin creator Jackson Palmer ( @ummjackson ), among others. We also chatted about how rapidly Steem is growing, some concerns with how much a whale's vote can be worth, and more. The Steem talk begins around the 8:23 mark, and we'll definitely be covering any big developments as they happen for future shows.

We also covered a few other important items in the currency markets this week:

  • Could the Bitfinex / Bitgo hack be an inside job? What are the unintended consequences of the socialized losses they're proposing?
  • UK Gambling Commission calls Bitcoin a “cash equivalent” -- yet another definition from yet another jurisdiction. Some courts say it's money, others say it's property or a digital asset, or a cash equivalent... Bitcoin doesn't conform to the government's stodgy labels!
  • Negative interest rates strike German retail bank; customers will have to pay to store their cash.
  • World Bank issues bonds denominated in Special Drawing Rights in China’s interbank bond market.
  • More Bitcoin debit cards are hitting the market, but are they a good thing?
  • TradeZero launches first 'dark pool' exchange for Bitcoin
  • DDoSCoin: Cryptocurrency created by participating in DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks
  • How blockchains could advance "robotic swarm" technology -- and what that could mean for farming and food production, just as one example.
  • Are members of the Ethereum Dev team dumping big amounts of Ethereum Classic (ETC)?
  • First major court ruling against a Bitcoin exchange in China goes to OKCoin; government claims that business was improperly registered and facilitates criminal money-laundering.

About Neocash Radio

Neocash Radio is now in its third year, and it is a great resource for those looking to get a weekly update on what's happening in the world of traditional currency markets as well as cryptocurrency markets. Co-hosts JJ Epic ( @jjepic ) and Dr. Darren Tapp ( @newhampshire ) have been gracious enough to let me join in on some of the reporting!

Speaking of Darren, he wrote up a really smart essay for the Neocash blog yesterday: "Why I Won't Encourage Businesses to Take Bitcoin." Check it out!

About me

My name is Randy Clemens and I am the author of The Sriracha Cookbook, The Veggie-Lover’s Sriracha Cookbook, and co-author of The Craft of Stone Brewing Co. I am a graduate of the California School of Culinary Arts and am featured in the award-winning Sriracha—a documentary film by Griffin Hammond.

In early 2015, I moved from Los Angeles to participate in the Free State Project, a geopolitical movement getting 20,000+ libertarians to relocate to New Hampshire to decrease the size and draconian reach of the government while protecting individual liberties.
