My New Way Forward On Steemit End of Week #1

It's time for my one week update on how my new direction on Steemit is going.

My New Approach to Content

I'm a photographer and writer and I had fallen into a groove(rut?) of participating in all the photo contests and challenges. Don't get me wrong, doing them was fun and it got me out shooting more. It's just it was what everyone else is doing. If you want to stand out you need to look for what everyone else isn't doing.

What everyone else isn't doing on Steemit, at least when it comes to my area of expertise, is writing how to and technical gear articles about photography. My first week was mostly how to with one solid article on picking your first interchangeable lens camera. Saturday's are going to be when I do a weekly photography news round up and the first one received over 100 upvotes, not bad for the first week.

My new Approach to Post Promotion and Curation

I used to be a heavy user of paid upvote bots, mostly Randowhale and Minnowbooster. I weened myself off their service before the recent whale war's began because I wanted to find a different way. That new way seems to be working.

Part one of that new way was to use free bots that offer their support to the community. The @minnowsupport bots and their upvote trail is one such source. @qurator isn't free(they have an aplication fee which goes to buying SP for the bot) and you have to have high quality content but if you get in and participate the bot gives you a daily upvote that comes with a great trail as well. If you've got enough followers with enough Steem Power(I just crossed the 1000 follower mark!) you can post from busy.org and get an upvote from the busy bot as well. I also delegated 100SP to @msp-creativebot which gets me upvotes from that bot and lovebot. Creative bot is like Qurator in that you have to be approved by the bot owner and you must have high quality content.

Part two of this 30 day experiment is leasing steem power while using Steem follower. So far it's working. I invested 24 Steem to up my total Steem Power to 1000 SP. So far I've made 14.776 in Steem and I have 28.12 in pending payouts. Lets assume a max curation on those pending payouts which would result in about 19 more Steem. I'm clearly headed to being in the black before the end of the second week. If you aren't signed up on Steem follower yet you can check it out here: https://steemfollower.com/?r=4476

Curation is going well too. I'm averaging 0.25SP a day and at that pace will result in 7.5 Steem in rewards for the 30 day period. Apparently I'm decent at picking curation winners. Who knew?

Conclusion

Right now if I had to estimate I'd say I'm going to profit between 30-50 Steem by the end of the 30 days with a target of 40 Steem. I'm seriously considering plowing the entire 40 Steem into leasing 1500 SP.

Enjoyed reading this, Randy. I still haven't made enough to invest in anything, but you are giving me info for things to try in the future. Keep up the good work!

You're welcome @dbooster

To be honest the only reason I've had money to invest and grow on Steemit is I had several unpublished short stories ready to go when I first signed up. One of which got upvoted to $115.
