BIG CITY? YOU CAN KEEP IT.

Boy, there is no way that I couLd live in a Big City. Today I had no choice but to go. My youngest boy turned 16 on the 23rd of April, Now those that follow me, you already know that we are currently building a drift car for him but it just was not suitable to be a daily driver car. So his mom and I asked him what type of car he wanted that was reasonable. Of course he picked one out that was reasonable but very hard to find. So today @raybrockman made a 4 hour trip to the big city to try and find the car he wanted.

Now this was at 10:30am, this is not even morning rush hour. Man I was a nervous wreck. But I was on a mission. Now I did take the time out to google "coin shops close to me." Of course only when traffic was at a stand still. Closet one was 47 miles away. Don't know if I will make it to this one.

Took me about 1.5 hours to find the dealership that had the vehicle, again I am not a city boy, I can get lost on a one way street. I was feeling good about it though, I had made it through the big City of Atlanta Georgia.

So I get the car loaded up and stop for some gas, No idea why he wanted this type of car, but it's a Volkswagen GTI, Now it had to be 2 door and a manual transmission. Color didnt really play a big role for him, but I kinda like the antiqued silver😉.

So I am off, ready to get home. Of course I was facing another 4 hour drive. It was about 2:00pm when I left Atlanta, which I thought was a good time since it wasnt rush hour.

As you can see, Traffic is much worse than it was this morning. Plus on the way home I was pulling a car hauler, with a car on it. Which is something I have never done before, but I could have used an IV with a constent drip of xanax. Man I was sweetin like pig at a BBQ. this was not for me and I could not believe I was doing this.

Arrived safely back at home at 7:45pm, yes it took me 5 hours and 45 minutes to travel 210 miles, I told yall, this wasn't for me. I was the guy everyone was passing while I drove 50MPH🤣.

So I got the car parked in Grandmas garage, thats right, he ain't getting this today. So stay tuned for the big reveal (FRIDAY).

So today I added no silver to the stack, but I added memories. Thanks for stopping by, even tho there wasn't much to it 😎👊.

Atlanta traffic is aweful. And everything is named Peachtree this and Peachtree that. The GTI is an awesome vehicle. Love me some VW's.

It SUCKS, yea my first car was 72 VW beetle, loved that car.

I don’t like the big city either. It a sweet looking ride. 👍🏻

Thanks Vulcan, I wont be back for a long time🤣

Great car for your son! Not a fan of the city either.

Man it was rough, thanks kp

'but I kinda like the antiqued silver' - no surprise there. LOL!

Seriously though, it seems like a neat machine for a teenager.

I was happy it was a silvery color.😎👊

He is going to be so pumped when he sees this! I still don't know how to drive a stick! I feel like I should learn!

Atlanta traffic is some of the worst traffic I have ever encountered! One wrong turn and you lose an hour of your time!

Ah dude, you gotta learn, lots of fun. Yea he is gonna be over the moon on this one.

I feel like it would be a blast! I always enjoy riding with people driving them!

wow beautiful photo

Great ride👍 But wow 4 hour drive is crazy! I thought Nyc was bad!

The things people do for our kids. A ride to the big city toting a car. Pretty nice Dad. 🐓🐓

Oh Atlanta! I remember 8 lanes each way in a slammed Civic. What an intimidating city.

You made it so give yourself some credit! Killer car for a birthday! Sick 👍😎

That sounds stressful, big city with another car that you're hauling behind. I don't blame you at all. Traffic is the worst. Glad you made it alright and that your boy is getting the car he wants.

I like VWs good choice

Glad to see you went above and beyond to get him what he wanted. Not sure why anyone would want a two door car, for me it is one of the factors on my no list. Neat post ♡

You rule ray!

You chose a very appealing color.

How I wish I too can turn 16 and demand for such a gift😁

The kid has good taste in cars. I love the golf gti's, very reliable but still an incredibly quick car. 🚗

Very cool man. Your boy is very lucky!

Interesting article. I come from small city in Asia, Now have known about big city. Thank you.

Memories are what matter brother. I’m sure wee Brockman will love his new ride. And I’m with you on the whole city deal. I’m a farm boy and I hate the big city! Great post.

I have driven through Atlanta many times on my way from Florida to Tennessee or Canada. I hate it. It's been a couple of years since I've driven that way but in general I try to hit Atlanta in the middle of the night. Much better that way.

Nice photography,,@raybrockman,,
i wish your surprise for your son may give you a bag of happiness,:D
@upvoted

I drove through Atlanta a few times back in 1979 and 1980. I did not like it back then. Today since I have time I think I would just drive around it. Nice car your son should be very happy!
