How long before Steemit overtakes facebook? :)

I know that I personally have never used the likes of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram - I just don't like them. I know there are a lot of people just like me who think exactly the same. These faceless conglomerations are a detriment to true society!

I am so thankful that I found Steemit, the decentralization, the like-minded community and the opportunity to get your voice heard is really satisfying.

Although I have only been on Steemit for a few months I feel like an old-timer here and will continue to post and interact with this wonderful community for as long as I can.

Judging by recent trends Steemit is moving in the right direction and is really going places. This is so good to see. I can only see this platform growing and growing.

Here's to hoping that Steemit becomes the number one social media platform ASAP.

A huge thanks to Steemit giving me this amazing platform!

A long way off from this I'm afraid. People still don't believe that it can work.

There are also a couple of important concepts that haven't become understood particularly well in the mainstream knowledge i.e. Block chain, cryptocurrency etc. - Though awareness is being raised.

I suppose the only way to achieve it is to prove that it's possible & to encourage as many people as possible to see how it all works for themselves.

Get the people interested and the market will follow.

Anyway, lets hope it's soon but not too soon.

Agreed, there is along way to go but you have to start somewhere, thing are definitely moving in the right direction.

This reminds me of a post I read earlier today: https://busy.org/steemit/@voronoi/literally-using-steem-to-explain-steemit-the-ice-cream-theory
In case you are wondering what busy.org is.. It basically just wraps the contents of the steemit blockchain in a much cleaner design and adds personal messaging.

Good question. I personally see Steemit more as a replacement for platforms like reddit. Perhaps out of the Steemit idea something grows that can compete with Facebook. What do you think ?

That's a possibility. Although I can see Steemit growing to encompass more than the current offering, there could be a competitor but Steemit already has a good footing.

Very possible, a big advantage isflexibility of Steemit team. Have you heard of Synero, Akasha and Yours ?

I have heard of Synero already signed up and waiting...... not heard of the others, will check them out.

Does Synero work by now ?

Their Beta product WildSpark is set for release June 30th. So we will see

Steemit is great but unfortunately it will never be big as facebook.

Never say never :)

Would facebook be beaten easily?

I don't think so. Probably they don't take it serious yet, as many other people.

Here's to hoping!

now that i now steemit i am most of the time on steem it. for one big reason, most people here have something to say, Much less complained here and more respectful to each other. i love it. Plus a beautiful platform to share my art. life is good

Same here, the platform really is unique. Steemit is definitely going places!

Facebook focusses on connections while Steemit on content. I do not think they are competitors. And imagine 1 million new posts..... each hour when you hit the 'new' section. That would be impossible to manage.

I think when Steemit grows there will be new features to manage the growth organically to prevent saturation :)

They all do very different things, so comparing them doesn't make much sense sorry!

In some aspects they are very different but the same when it comes to people posting their activities for their followers to view.

FB is poison.

Agreed :)

Agreed, I deleted facebook a few days ago and don't miss it at all.

Nice, luckily for me I never had an FB account :)

I totally agree with you... Already seen tons of influencers from facebook and youtube coming here, just hope they don't bring that drama here lol

Haha yeah, bring the influence but leave the drama behind :)

I think its more natural to compare to traditional blogging platforms in the beginning. Its HARD to compete with the network effect of FB. At least Steemit has a attractive model for contentcreators :)

Maybe, time will tell. Heres to hoping FB will be taken down soon!

For sure man. In the end people will realise that sharing on a platform that has the ability to censor you is not ideal. Also selling yourself for some stupid advertisers..

Maybe, lets hope for sooner :)
