For anybody that's new to Steemit let me tell you how great this platform is... with some very timely help cashing out my SBD (Steem Dollars) from @papa-pepper, I was able to pay almost $500 worth of bills, buy some food and have some cash left. If you don't think that's remarkable, read on...
I still have around $8000 left in my wallet! Not good enough??? I started on here on Thanksgiving of last year with nothing. After getting locked out of my account for 3 weeks (I lost my password- DON"T do this) I've made all of this money by writing about things I like, or sometimes about things I don't like (political corruption, etc.), posting music, movies, photos...
You can do this too... There's nothing special about me. I can't really give you advice about what to write or blog about, I haven't really figured that out. I like to write stories. What I will tell you is become part of the community. It took me forever to get up to 100 steem because I kept giving it away- it was like play money to me at first. Every time someone came on with problems I donated what I could. It made me feel like part of the community. Now I'm 2 short of 600 followers. If you forget about the money and have fun blogging- it will come.

I hear ya and I do agree it's an awesome place to be! Much better than YT or FB but for me it's meeting people, reading posts and mostly commenting that works. I've hardly blogged or posted anything as of yet but I suppose I will eventually. Just havin' fun surfing around for the mean time! Enjoyed!

I've been writing for a long time... I was on Blogspot for several months and I saw a video on YT where the guy asked... "like to blog? Want to get paid? Check out steemit?" That was Thanksgiving... I've been itchin' to do this but with my job and the 2 kids it's hard to find the energy and time. Hell, I'm in the garage now cleaning it with the two of them on a skate board runnin' on 5 hours sleep haha! Fun days indeed! Wouldn't trade em' for anything! I'll get around to writing though.

It's hard with kids and a job. Believe me I know! I homeschooled four, did college lectures at night and somehow managed to write 365 pages of a book. You know, thinking back, I wonder how I did it. Boy, it's nice to be retired!!!

WOW... Great stuff!!! Followed... I found a Canon EOS Rebel in a box of junk and I'm not very good yet, but when I run out this roll of film, I want to do some B&W... I really like the contrasts. I'm into silent movies- especially the old German ones- they were masters of light and shadow!

I've been here since May, I haven't made many posts yet due to lack of time (raising an infant, and relocating for a job is a lot of work). But I've obtained rewards just for reading and commenting on the content people have posted. And there is some legitimate good content on here. Cheers to Steemit.

My friend, you will have to ask someone much smarter than me!!! From what I understand, you need a Bittrex account to convert steem into Bitcoin. Then a Coinbase account to convert Bitcoin to actual currency.
