Having the 10th largest population in England, Bristol is located on the South West England. This is general information freely available on many websites. However, my blog today is to discover the real Spirit of Bristol and talk about some facts that I discovered on my visit to this amazingly beautiful and peaceful place.
Even though Bristol is about half an hour away from Swindon by train, I cannot believe that it took me nearly 5 years to visit this place. My friends and work colleagues would often tell me to visit this magical place and how most of them prefer to visit Bristol more than London. So, lets discuss why this place is so special.
1 International Balloon Festival.
Yes, Bristol hosts one of the biggest International Balloons Festival in Europe. People from all around the world world gather to watch and participate in the event which is held at the Ashton Court. You can literally watch 100's of hot air balloons take off in one go. The scene is just magical. This event is mostly held in the month of August.
2 Clifton Suspension Bridge
If you ever go to Bristol you have to visit the suspension bridge. The view is just amazing It took 33 years to complete this bridge. The hard work is clearly visible and the view is just magnificent. Have a look at the pictures.
3 St. Pauls Church aka Wedding Cake Church.
I don't know why this church is called the wedding cake church. When i entered the church it was so beautiful and peaceful. It made me think that this may be the reason why it is famous for hosting so many weddings and may be this is how it got its name. I may be wrong.
4 Za Za Bazaar Bristol
Bristol's ZaZa Bazaar is UK's largest restaurant which can serve a 1000 customers in one sitting. The restaurants tag line is 'World Banquet and Bar' and they are 100% correct in saying that as they offer food from around the world. Be it Chinese, Asian, Indian, Brazilian, Mexican, English food. they have it all.
So, if you're a foodie like me please don't forget to visit ZaZa Bazaar Bristol.

5 Bristol Zoo
OK, to start with the Bristol Zoo is the fifth oldest zoo in the world. I couldn't go to the zoo as i was tired from all the sight seeing and over eating at ZaZa Bazaar. But, I definitely want to visit this place. The zoo is huge with animals from all over the world. This place would be ideal to picnic. It is next on my bucket list. Most of the time they do offers on tickets. so keep an eye on offers if you are planing to visit the zoo like me.
Did you know, that Bristol was the only city in the UK which won the European Green Capital award for 2015. Bristol received this award for it's contribution towards a safer, susatainable and healthy environment.
Apart from all this I also visited the Bristol Harbour. There are loads of shopping arcades, restaurants, bars, clubs, street side shopping, all of which makes the harbour very busy. However, with a view that screams beauty, ancient history, amazing food and wine with free music, I couldn't complain.
Bristol offers everything to everyone. Its an amazing place to picnic or go hiking, or to just relax. You name it and Bristol has it.. You can tour the city on a boat, bike, bus or drive. No matter what you do in Bristol I'm sure you will fall in love with the place.
If I've missed out on something please let me know. Also, if you have visited Bristol do let me know.
