So you want to grab the most value out of your post? Then you are at the right place. When you read on I’ll give you some pointers on how to get the most out of your post! What is the current situation you are probably in now? Well we post our content and wait till people start upvoting. We mainly get up votes from minnows that aren’t worth much. For some that isn’t a big deal because they aren’t here for the money, but some are and they are a bit upset that they don’t get more. Or perhaps you have setteled in Steemit and write quality content but aren’t getting noticed by those amazing Dolphins and Whales which is a big bummer. You want those power followers to like your content and get the value out of it. Well.. To get the attention of a whale you just have to get lucky. But how can you maximise your profits from those minnows you do attract? Let’s start!
Biggest tip. Don’t focus on whales
But whales give the most value when they vote! Why not focus on getting their attention?!
The chances of attracting a whale are very very low. So what can you do? Well connect with as much minnows as you can. Help each other out because they can help you grow and you can help them. When you grow together and build a relationship the payout will come eventually because the value of all your votes will go up. This is more of a longterm tip since it takes time to build up your value.
Add value to your post
So I told you to connect with a lot of minnows, but they can run out because not everyone likes the same content. So your content must contain a lot of value to read and should be easy to read. I gave some pointers about a quality post here: https://steemit.com/steemit/@rkrijgsman/writing-a-winning-blogpost. But how can you give more value to your post. Well we have to go a bit into Online Marketing and thinking of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
So how does SEO work? Well you should keep on writing more articles that contain value and some great input for your readers. But after you’ve posted it, it will vanish into the deep hole a bit. So how do you keep it relevant. Well you link those articles to give your readers something else and they will read those articles and might up vote those as well!
Now your articles are great, but your articles are undervalued. Your previous posts didn’t attract any dolphins and whales. So when a dolphin comes on your new post and finds it interesting he might up vote it and check your other content that you linked too. Of course it’s the same for everyone, also new minnows to get more value out of it, even if it’s a tiny fraction.
So how can you generate even more value?
Well I told you about linking to other posts, but how can you generate more value. Well if you have a lot to tell you can split up your post and go deeper into specific points. So if you have a lot of tips, you can write a blog post about 2 tips and let them stay tuned for more. So you post 2 tips after one an other. Then we get back to the previous point and you link to all your other posts so that they can check out all the tips you have.
But why should you do this? Well your article will get snowed under in a matter of minutes in the newsfeed. With the high influx of new users the articles =that are posted everyday are more and more. So when you split your posts you get a wider audience and also can have more votes of the same people (if they like your content of course). There are new stuff happening every day so for example, tips are always needed. Check out this post that I wrote about the common used mistakes on posts as well. It will help you get your posts to a higher level! https://steemit.com/steemit/@rkrijgsman/mistakes-i-see-beginners-make-you-can-avoid-it.
Ty this is some good advice, I have seen other's doing this, linking articles together is a great idea.
Is this how people make really good money running their own websites also??
Do you think Steemit would be a good platform for trying to gain traffic to a webpage also?
Ty

This is a great piece my friend and I could not agree more, my advice would be go with it run with it every day something else clicks into place, then when I read an article like this I am almost jumping up and down on the bed thinking "yes...yes I am doing it right." Just as a feedback you have a little typo where you typed dophins and whales you need to add yourself an l there, then your post is perfect magic.

I have experimented with writing a series with a specific focus in order to gain at least a short-term following as I cover a specific subject. It encourages people to watch for new posts and also read earlier posts from the series. It also helps me connect with people who share my interests, and find new people for me to follow and upvote as well.
