The Steemit Ecosystem

in steemit •  7 years ago

Steemit is growing and the community keeps evolving. Every new person wants to earn some cash in the form of cryptocurrency’s. They start posting their content, upvote content of others and start curating. But not everyone gets the same amount and new people have a hard time to get their money while veterans get $100+ on each post. Those veterans can up vote a post and give the author $25 with one click.

The votes weight is based on how much Steem Power the voter has. The higher the amount, the more your vote is worth. When you are a veteran you have a lot of Steem Power and can upvote one post and give it more attention in the process.

Let’s have a look ash the Steemit Ecosystem

Plankton (New User / Newbie)

The Steemit Ecosystem can be related with keywords from the sea. Each group of users has such a name and the Plankton is a small part of that big ocean. When it does something it doesn’t have a great impact. The Plankton is a new user that have joined Steemit and they are trying to get bigger by getting their rewards. Their Steem Power is low and their votes might be worth $0.01 or less. They are still learning and everything they do isn’t that recognised because they don’t have a lot of followers.

The Plankton tries to look for a path that is related to him and were he thinks he can make a difference. They post a lot and see what sticks. It’s really just the try out stage. They want to get attention so they use methods like follow for follow and upvote for upvote. While this might give you a small crowd. This won’t stick since they don’t follow you for their content.

Minnow (Regular / User)

The Minnow is the average Steemit user. They are here for a few weeks, know the platform and have earned a few dollars in the process. The minnow group is the largest group on Steemit because the ones that stick are growing slowly. Unless you invest in Steemit and make your Steem Power grow. They have a bit of weight in their votes and can be trusted a bit more. Their content gets attention but they still try to get votes through means of interacting with other users.

Most Minnows didn’t invested in Steem Power thus their votes aren’t worth much. They are in the range of $0.01 - $0.05. They are slowly climbing the ranks. In this stage you are trying to get your Steem Power up to get to the next stage and make a difference.

Dolphin (Super user / Small Influencer)

These Steemians have invested a good amount in Steem Power or have posted / curated a lot of posts to get their Steem Power. Their investment in Stem Power of a few thousands can be seen in their votes. Their upvote is worth $0.50 to a few dollar for each vote. They know the ins and outs of Steemit and have a good follower group.

Their hard work and patience made them a good earning of more than 5000 Steem Power and gives them the recognition they want and need. Those users get more powerful and influential in the system by the day. They can curate posts and earn Steem Power in the process.

Whales (The King / Big Influencer)

This is the group that has the most influence on the platform. These guys have the most and largest Steem Power and their up vote is worth a lot! When they like your post and upvote it you won’t earn a few dollars or cents, your post gets boosted with $20+! When a whale upvotes your post you will feel it right away. The whales can choose which posts to like and give attention. The whales have invested in the platform and now have the ability to reward others. The moment they like a post, that post will go to hot and/or trending.

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.
