Why Steemit will become the new TV (and this is bad) and how to avoid it

in steemit •  8 years ago  (edited)

If I write an article to get more views and upvotes as possible I will target the average, that is what is more common in people: you will see a lot of sensationalist titles like: "Definitive guide to get rich soon", "How to I manage to get a Ferrari for a taco", "Why Steemit will become the new TV" etc. And obviously you will never bet on a post that talks about cold fusion if there is a near post talking about boobs, maybe I exaggerate but you get the point.

Basically this will bring us to the tv model, lowering the level and making impossible to find really good stuff.

Solution:

Make a subjective steem power, I don't want to have filter (and ranking) on posts based on how rich (in SP) are the curators - probably they get there upvoting boobs or talking like marketers and politicians - I want to value voters according to my OWN vision.

I want that votes of a people I trust have a big weight even if that person have no SP at all, and I value zero the vote of a big idiot even if he is a good speculator and have lots of SP.

Tell me in a comment if you agree (so I get the monney!!)

And don't forget to subscribe and upvote!!!

REALLY!!! 100 YEARS OF LUCKINESS IF YOU GIVE ME THE UPVOTE1111!!!!

I 'think' I understand what you're getting at. Do you mean have the ability to follow Curators who's judgment you respect? E.g.

a list that shows posts that have been upvoted by a group of curators that I select?

If so, I think this would be a great idea.

For now you can use steemd.com to track how certain individuals are upvoting. (e.g. you can see all my activity at https://steemd.com/@nanzo-scoop). However it would be great to be able to select a number of users and a live stream of the posts they are upvoting.

Bittertweet.

I have absolutely no idea how this would actually work, but I agree that it might make sense to have vote weights be subjective somehow. Steemit seems to have a "stories I will like" section already; not sure how it generates that.

I would also love it if instead of being paid with objective money, people on here got paid with subjective money. Do you post great articles on knitting that knitters love (and everyone else ignores)? Then you get currency that knitters value (for some reason).

I AGREE 100% - ITS WHY I AM THE CEO OF MY OWN SOCIAL SITE AND IT WILL ONLY FEATURE IMPORTANT POSTS NOT NONSENSE!

Upvoted you!
