Djing sounds mad fun. I know dj's around here doing good, however, gigs can be random. good luck in your future and what you choose to do.

hey rok!! congratulations :P you know not everyone is able to restructure their brain even after the pressure has been taken off. It amazes me how many people I know that worry about and stress about money "more than they have to"...which I know is totally and completely subjective.

Anyway, good job on enjoying some of your new found freedom! It brings up such a good question too...the question of what do we newly freer humans with with our good situation. What now?

create to pay it forward... :-)

Good one !

I like it called bigger-than-head-sized bowl drinks :-)

the technical name on the menu was "Monsoon" size, though this was also accurate.

Congrats on getting out of the position that had you feeling tied down. Steemit is going to be a game changer for a lot of people and you're a prime example of that. Keep up the hard work otherwise I'll catch up :p. Honestly, though great job and I hope you enjoyed those super large drinks.

Shakes of wage slavery, love that line my man. And there is nothing wrong with a good old fashioned circle jerk when it's in good fun! I'm mean for Steemit. But seriously, there is going to continue to be a lot of hype posts as people continue to flood into the network. Glad to see you had a successful landing on the steemit rocket to the stars. We are passing the moon!

Amazing story. We love Steemit! Althought, I'm sure your tunes were pretty kick ass.

New follower here, @rok-sivante. Best Regards.
@abn

rok, I love it, such an inspiring post man, not everything that glitters is gold eh? Sometimes all it takes is breaking free from financial burdens to rediscover your passions. You think you will ever go back to DJ'ing on your own terms?

DJing, probably not. Producing, yes. :-)

Good for you, I wonder how many make a full time income from Steemit?

probably not that many. the early adopters who hustled hard were probably in the best position to create such an opportunity. however, it's still open-game - anyone who really hustles hard and puts in the work to create some high quality content consistently has just as equal an opportunity to earn themselves such at any point. as they say, the creme rises to the top...

I wish I heard of it early as well :)

relatively, it still is early...

You have a point there if you look from the perspective of a person in 2019.

I'm not sure what the figures are now, but last I heard a week or two ago, there was something like 15-20k users on Steemit. That's nothing.

I dunno if we can accurately make comparisons to other social media sites - and we might not foresee what other 'competition' to Steemit might pop up... but considering Reddit has like 234 million users, Facebook over a billion... Steemit could grow to a fraction of the size, and we'd still be among the first few now...

this is so so SO true.

What would be great is if they can make a version of Steemit that is like youtube that would be huge I think!

In some ways, it has all it needs already..Who cares if the video itself is streamed from youtube? But yeah, maybe it will get Married with Siacoin or Storj some day, and have a decentralized video streaming service.

I love this post you wrote ! Spot on, you own your life now!
Voted and followed you.

It's nice seeing someone having fun in such a classy way. Good luck with whatever you choose to do!

Glad to know that Steemit is working out well for you and many, it's inspiring to speak the least. I'm still far off but learning loads daily. It will be awesome for me to be able to pay for a simple sandwich with a Steemit post someday :) That monsoon size cocktail looks fantastic, especially when I'm looking at it while I'm sipping water ;)

I wonder how many to make a full time income from Steemit?

answered same question above... in short, a small percentage. however, it's equal-opportunity for any who put in the work to consistently produce HIGH quality content of value to the community...

very inspiring! Thanks for sharing. As a side note... as they say, "happy wife, happy life". Are we husbands slaves to love for our wives? lol.

depends on the man. some, yes. though perhaps to a king who honors his woman as a queen, he is not a slave, but a willing, grateful, humble, well-honored servant... :-)

well said mate. well said.

This place is so exciting, isn't it?

You just so inspired me... I'm still trapped at the job but seeing a fellow Vancouverite rocking the Steemit life made freedom just started looking a bit more possible. Hope you guys have a great weekend. Repeat... the world is yours, the world is yours!!

granted, it took alot of work. possible, yes. though commitment and consistency to producing QUALITY content of high value is absolutely essential... ;-)

your right, steemit have the potential to remove one from wage slavery. nice one

potential, yes - though that potential can only be activated through one's action in consistently creating value for the community... ;-)

Yes, your right

nice series @rok-sivante thank for sharing ! :)

Killer post @rok-sivante ! Your message is what I tell everyone I get a chance to, chase the freedom not the money! Love it, followed and upvoted you.

and the choice of freedom paid off. so far, made at least a hundred bucks more than I would have DJing in about a 1/8th of the time. go figure. :-)

Love it! I think most people don't do what they love because they are afraid of what others will think of them, I was stuck in a dead end job for 10 years, then at 25 I made a choice to do it for "me", now 3 corporations created later, I am loving life! Much love and respect to you brother!

You are a prime example of the rewards and benefits of hard work paying off through using Steemit. So happy you were able to take your wife out. 😊 Those drinks are huge!

Yes, hard work always pays of at the end.

Some HUGE ass drinks!! I would be Lit!

So I noticed there are alot of straws in that drink. But i only see 2 people. You need another friend. I like straws.

Lol... we actually tried ordering one of those drinks each, but they aren't legally allowed as apparently the 5oz. Liquor is more they're able to serve to a single person at a single time.

Though ya... guess they aren't all that environmentally-conscious, wasting the plastic of those two unused straws. Bastards. :-p

So is that a no on being my friend? kinda vague. But I agree probably for the better on the alcohol limit otherwise people would get super drunk. Looks like you were drinking Watermelon margarita if you are near a On the Border. They have fresh squeezed watermelon ones.

Yummy
Very nice
Share a drink with me else pay me a penality :)

This glass is very large :)))

Having the luxury of being able to spend time with loved ones vs having to sacrifice that same time for what you believe will be a monetary reward that will afford you the opportunity to spend time with loved ones at a later time, hoping that the current situation doesn't repeats itself.

Remember all those MasterCard Priceless commercials? There is a very reason they were such a successful campaign. Those times you share are PRICELESS. And now you have the means to live a PRICELESS LIFE. Enjoy!!!!

I would love to go DJing around some time... and then chill and relax. I see future in SteemIt, I wish you the best luck.

Maybe I'm something of a slave to Steemit now

Well, maybe, but on the other hand, what is being a slave if you do have the freedom to speak about what you want, to post what you want, and do it as often as you want?

Haha, yessss this is the dream!

Illmatic... one of the best ever. That buck that bought a bottle could have struck the lotto...

:-)

Hey rok, I'm glad to hear steemit has changed your life for the better. That's what it's all about!! Freedom..from now on DJ only when you want to :) btw that bowl drink is massive haha

Congrats! That drink looks so good

That's huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge!!!!!!!!!!

The look on your face says it all

I saw your commercial!

But you didn't mention Steemit.

Mmm, nope, not me. Never had hair and never wear a suit.

Wow, I was actually writing a thoughtful reply to your post about Wisdom & Responsibility In The Face Of Confronting Another's Suffering when I saw your reply come in.

Now I'm not sure I want to.

Did my attempt at humor piss you off or am I just misreading your response?

Lol. Must be misreading. Probably should have thrown in a happy face or sumthin at the end of that response, as not pissed off at all or anything near it... :-)

Great.

I really do like your posts, they're well thought out and you really do seem to give a shit.

I'm going to go finish up the comment on your other post now.

Thanks, a lot.

It is nice and funny. :D @rok-sivante

Hell yeah, from own my experience I know that DJ is a freaking hard job. The hardest actually! You should have strong lungs and a liver.

lol. :-)

Word and thanks to be my mentor and supporter

wow I can relate to this "trading my limited time in life away for a few bucks". I wish I can be the boss of my own. Good for you, you ate earning huge amount here. I followed you haha.

SteemIt is just the best one out there. I am seeing SO, SO many people starting to pay attention to it!

Lovely photo

You're an inspiration. Thank for sharing your story. :)

Now that's inspiring! Congrats that Steem has paid off for you. Working as a DJ sounds very mad. Isn't it still about "freedom and freedom to choose"- How you want it, when you want to... Hopefully, this new decentralized system offers some real changes, that we've gone grey waitng for. Good stuff!

Steemit is changing my perspective on what is possible and fits in perfectly with my love of travel. Thinking of visiting Thailand and blog about it.
