This is Why I Don't Use DTube

So for the longest time many of my Steemit friends have been trying to encourage me to use DTube. I'll be honest, I'm stuck in my ways and I'm lazy. Having to login to Steemit to then go into permissions and get my private posting key to then login to another site is both extra work, as well as something outside of my normal routine.

On top of that, despite everyone hating Youtube, they pay me much better than DTube and Steemit. On Youtube I've made upwards of $4,500 in a single month off Adsense, an average month for me is $2000 to $2500 and despite grinding away for over a year here on a daily basis Steemit pays me peanuts. So for that reason it seems to me to be more lucrative to post my videos on Youtube, then share them here and get some extra views which wind up being about $17 per 1,000 views.

All that aside however I've recently made a few attempts to post to DTube and after taking some time to write a mini blog post in the description, craft a snap, and come up with my bulletpoints, I'll go to post and get the message you see at the bottom right of the above photos which says please upload a video before submitting, which I have already done multiple times. Othertimes I try to post I'll get an error message, sometimes it will tell me I havn't uploaded a snap.

Imagine if Twitter or Facebook or Youtube had this many fuckups, people would say screw this, I'm gonna use a social media platform that actually works. This is incredibly frustrating, and it also makes me think DTube adoption won't be great if other people have the same experience as myself. I have noticed Steemit has been being a little glitchy tody with my voting and comments so maybe it's Steemit to blame and not Dtube.

Moral of the story is I've tried to give DTube a shot but I don't think it's really worth my while so gonna keep posting on Youtube and embedding those videos here. It's going to be more lucrative for me money wise and less headaches as Youtube works everytime and DTube doesn't.

Likewise for viewing. I've tried to watch videos on DTube and they just lag or won't load. I end up going over to the content creators YouTube video instead. Yes, I hate YouTube too but it just works.

Hey @bodyinbeta good to see you back on here, I've been missing you, you were always one of my favorite Steemit users. How's Merch going for you these days? Are you messing with the pop sockets? Good to see you back on here and hope to see more from you. Thanks for the comment.

I remember when I first started uploading to DTube, it was awful. I would try and upload 1GB videos and for no reason it would just abort the whole upload at like 60-70% completion (and it took about an hour to get there) with multiple attempts. I got so fuckin mad. But these days it does work a lot better.

I can actually watch videos on DTube which is great. Previously, I could not without a VPN and even then it was too slow. Always buffering.

These days, I don't have any issues when uploading to DTube and I have been doing so very consistently. Are you sure your video completely uploaded or did it cut off? That's one of the problems: when a video is uploaded, it doesn't say "Upload Complete" or anything like that. All the progress bars disappear but it does the same thing when the upload gets aborted so you can't tell unless you were watching it upload.

I can so much relate. Not only the error message that I often get as well before successfully uploading, but what made me really realized that I would be better with YouTube was when, I would be back after days of not logging in to DTube and poof! My videos were gone. Gone from my video list but going to my watch history and clicking it from there, I am able to watch. I tried to. As I had planned before to start my video library there and letting my language learners afterwards. But seeing that my videos always disappear, back to YT. How could I share them my DTube channel if there's no video in my video list to watch? 🙂

Youtube works a lot better for the viewer too . Never any glitches always suggests the right videos and stuff. Nice youtube earnings too

Yeah up until recently Youtube was consistantly 2500 every month, all the sudden, really since the new monetization policy, earnings have been really tanking, not really sure why. Trying to be more active, put out better content and get things back on track.

Why don't you use DLive Johnny?

Well let me put in my 2 cents in... "upvotes"

Hey man thanks for sharing your thoughts. I really agree with you on some stuff - it can be frustrating trying to get a video posted and you keep getting those error messages. I'm in the process of writing a post for a video right now which I'll be uploading to dtube - fingers crossed that I don't get error messages all night myself lol.

Try clearing your cache also what browser are you using I've noticed there's less issues when uploading from Firefox if you're using Chrome that tends to be the problem. I don't have much of a following on YouTube I'm a pretty small creator I've made more on dtube than I ever have on YouTube across two channels.

DTube is the most annoying for me as well.

I can't remember if you've streamed to dlive. Even though the server was very slow the last time I streamed there, which was months ago, it worked out very well. The dlive team is constantly improving the site and they even just launched a mobile app.

I prefer dlive as opposed to streaming live on youtube.
