What is happening to our precious STEEM?

I joined 5 months ago and at that time posts that were trending were earning about 800-1000$ and few months before that I've seen posts earning 3k+$.

Nowadays posts on trending are earning about 150-300$. This brings up my question.

Where has all the STEEM gone and why are the rewards decreasing?

What will happen when STEEM prices go higher and people's votes are worth more?

Will the reward pool get killed off and decrease the rewards even more?

Share this post around and help spread the word out by resteeming untill we get an anwser.

I'm sure that I'm not the only one that would want to know whats happening. Are the voting bots maybe causing this mess?

@berniesanders, @teamsteem, @surpassinggoogle, anyone do you know what's going on?

Part of it is the reducing price of Steem. The 7-day price feeds are finally catching up. Post rewards are paid out in Steem/SBD, but they display in $ based on the feed. The lower the feed goes, the lower the payouts "appear".

I thought that mingt be the issue, but still the price didn't drop so much. Only about 0,3$. What will happen when steem reaches 2-3 $ then will our votes triple in value? Wouldn't that just drain the reward pool even more?

Also the voting algorithm changed making the reward more diffused.

What does that mean? Do minnows get more rewards then? Is the reward more evenly distributed? I thought the main problem was upvote bots draining the reward pool.

Yes that's what I meant. And it's a fact.

That's nice. We need a way to increase our user retention rates and if this is the way to achieve it I'm all up for it. But I think a utopian style crowdfunded bot would be a better solution to this problem.

Yep Good Question :)

Let's hope we get a good answer (:

I'm sure @steemit will optimize their platform to benefit everyone.

Let's hope so. But I would still want to know what's causing this.

Please let us know if you get the answers.
is this the symbol of demise? I don't want to waste my time .....again

I don't think so. Steemit has a great future ahead. Just hold the steem you get. It will be worth much more in the near future.

But..yes I had lots of energy at the start. But these days I'm just loosing my faith from it..And have realized you can't say the same thing on hot or trending posts because somebody come and will flag you but they do not bother to answer your question...you don't have good reflections on people when you can't face their simple question/or doubt. But it seems like some whales will never realize it..this is how to says..Money talks..

Don't loose faith. As I said Steemit has a very bright future ahead. Just needs to fix some problems and make the site more user friendly.

Let's see the future of steem together. It was nice conversation with you. Thanks for your time 👍🏻
Hopefully won't turn out to be another bubblews or tsu or ..else.

It wont, trust me. I think that in april or may we will see a big price pump of steem value. We will just have to wait and see. Come back in may and lets talk again :)
Have a great day @katteasis !

ok thanks :)
See you!😀

i'm new on @steemit but yes you right i saw some videos of @jerrybanfield and he made $500+ /day but now he make less :|

This is because there are lots of arrogants who don' want jerrybanfield to simply surpass them since he is a marketing guy and was doing it very well, nowadays if you see his posts there are lots of flags just with no reason. When you realize he is the only guy who is bringing real users to the community. this is one of reason I lose fait with steemit, I spend lots of time on google searching for reviews than posting on steemit these days.

He is not a marketing guy but a scam artist. And the reason he gets flags is that he was trying to scam unsuspecting noobs to buy his 50 STEEM steemit account creation and 180$ info guide on how to set up a witness node which is free information already available. When he got attacked by the community he quickly edited the post.

Oh,I am wondering how I didn't get to see that post? When did all these things happen?
I have been following this guy on twitter and facebook from long..He came here seeing one of his ad/ or post...somehow I trusted that guy otherwise I wouldn't be here. I have already wasted lots of my time on so called paid content sharing sites.
And again thanks for the info

That's because he was quick enough to edit the post. It was about a month ago, maybe a bit more. You aren't wasting your time on steemit just hold the steem you get because 1$ you earned in steem today will be much much more in a couple of years when steemit goes mainstream.

Sure ! I am holding it till now(haven't earned that much :)).
Have a good time !👊🏻

There are rumours that voting bots are affecting this. Not sure what the solution could be, but people are talking about it and trying to figure out a solution.

So there is no straight answer to this?

Not as far as I could find. Every time I try to search and ask around, the answers I get are always around an elaborate system and nothing is clear cut. I think THAT is more the main problem, that nothing is clear cut in this and it's difficult to find a straight clear cut answer. Some people say it's the bots, others say it's the curation percentage that is divided between content creators and upvoters, others say it's the Whales who aren't voting evenly enough. There is no concensus or clear answer, always theories and elaborate things about hwo to fix what they think the problem is and it's very confusing.

I wish I had more to give you, but I'm on the same search as you.

Let's hope someone jumps in with a good answer then :)

hehe yeah, my sentiments exactly ;)

cronyism, greed and bullshit.....it is the same in anything humans get entrenched it whether it be a food processing company, a sweat shop, Gov. or stuff like this

I get what you are saying but how? Is it the selfvoting, bot votes, buying votes, whales circlejerking or something else?

probably like 20 things together but this is pure capitalism and a kind of darwinism as well, almost a type of social experiment...... if you are not depending on this as anything but a source of a bit of extra income then it's morbidly fascinating to watch

also an interesting side note..some who portray themselves as almost angelic are huge amoral assholes and some who get bad raps I find to actually care more about the platform then most, it's like a soap opera but with sbd's :)

Is there a way we can incentivise against it? Is there a way to stop it?Because if this trend continues we will have some serious user retention problems. (not like we don't have it already but it will increase drastically)

Who are you talking about? scamfield?

no, not talking about anyone in particular either.....no, think that the powers that be have made it rather clear that it is up to us to self police they are not interested in being moral cops
shrugs,

Damn, we need to do something about it then. When thinking about it I came up with a contest that would fight against selfvoters. I would host it weekly and the winners would be the people with most amount of votes handed out to other steemians and the least amount of selfvotes.

I know it wouldn't fix the problem but at least people would selfvote less.

Even on my 'best' posts that sometimes have over 100's of votes, yet they never get even close to a descent payout.. not like the posts I started with a few months ago. Something is up for sure :(

:( let's hope things change for better soon then

I hope to see a good response to your question! Upvoted, followed & resteemed.

Thanks, me too but as I can tell by now I don't think there is a straight answer for this. It's a lot of factors combined and I think we can't be certain about what is causing this.
