So, this is how I see it. If you want to gain power, you have to gain upvotes. Upvotes is what we all need more of so we can get that steem power.
If we have 20 minnows united for every post in the group, then you have 19 upvotes for every post. It's as easy as following 19 minnows and if you're like me, you check your feed often.
The rule I have for my feed is simple, I upvote my feed, because it's my feed. We can do as we wish with our feed. Many have objected to this idea, because they didn't want to upvote on content that wasn't interesting to them.
One thing I have noticed about 19 minnow upvotes, it doesn't do much. What it does though, is create momentum, and momentum is how we grow. So with the 19 upvotes, you gain the attention of other users and they can decide if the content is worth more upvotes. Almost all steemit upvotes are created this way.
I upvote all the big fish when I can and so do the majority of steemit users. It's the way we win the race. We want a piece of that big delicious pie.
In the last couple of days, my reputation has grown and my steem dollars are growing. I have created a formula by being loyal. Loyalty to the group is key. I have had fellow minnows agree to this, and I have only received a few upvotes for a post. I understand the many objections, but your climb will be painfully slow or nonexistent.
I don't like making life more difficult, so this is why i make it easy.

Be careful with this. Your steem power becomes diluted after a number of votes during the day. So if 60 people invite each other's posts, it doesn't matter because the net steem power isn't very high.
The system is built to zig when you zag. Gaming the system this way is inefficient.

If you all upvote each other, regardless of quality, do you think those posts will trend and make you any STEEM? What if, instead, you used your voting power (which diminishes over time and has to refresh) to vote up really great original content you find in the new section that does have a chance to trend? With that approach, you can increase your curation rewards and the quality of the content on the site overall which increases the value of the STEEM you hope to earn. Unless you have a high amount of Steem Power, your curation rewards will be low. Your best bet is to write consistently great content and then leave really useful comments on other popular posts which will gain you new followers who see your blog full of good content.

It's not that what we want is to make a large number of STEEM power. Awards for the voice will not be great, you are right. We just want to support each other. To grow together. I understand what you're putting down, but in my opinion, the race is fixed here on steemit. I'm just trying to help some sub minnows get some traction here...a little push. It takes years to grow an audience and most of the content that gets big upvoting is by blind upvoting. Tons of amazing content here that never sees the light of day and im trying to fix that.
I trade stocks and steemit is no different than momentum trading. When the big investor places the big trade, everyone follows. And those big money traders will always have the winning trade.
I like entertaining and i like motivating and this is an original story. I'm looking for an audience of my peers and I'm helping them build an audience in return. my stories are beginning to build an audience and my wish is that others build an audience as well.

As for the race being fixed, you may be right, but I've always had great success focusing on relationships and have been in the top 100 most followed accounts. I think a relational strategy works and to the extent you're doing that here, I think you'll all be very successful. What I'm not a fan of is "vote for me and I'll vote for you" because it can actually decrease the quality of the content here. Momentum trading is an interesting example... what happens when a bunch of people trade a crap stock and later sell out? We call that a pump and dump. I think you'll agree with me we'd rather have long term quality here and promote the stocks (i.e. the posts and the good authors) who will consistently deliver that long term quality. Creating crony voting groups won't bring that quality.
So yeah, build away! Just be selective who you're building with as some people are only interested votes, not in quality.
That's what I'm trying to avoid as well. The thing is, if someone consistently puts out really valuable content which is worth my vote, I have more confidence voting for their next new post. I still read everything, but there is something to be said for brand loyalty that is earned through consistency.

I read everything that comes through my feed. Nothing gets blindly upvoted. Most of the stuff in my feed eventually ends up getting upvoted, but not quite everything.
I think the biggest thing with this is just getting an audience for your content. If you're a brand new minnow, there usually won't be a lot of people looking at your stuff, unless they happen to see in the few minutes that it is near the top of the new feed.
