You are perfectly right. Steemit should benefit from the hype and the advertisement from devoted steemians. I am sure they can find a better solution for the security problem.

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

  • Disagreement on rewards
  • Fraud or plagiarism
  • Hate speech or trolling
  • Miscategorized content or spam
