I have been so busy posting articles and living my somewhat hectic life (which includes a full time job, two children and a difunctional right hand) I have not had time to respond to any of the lovely comments I have received over the last five days.
There are now over 250 people to respond to, so I am pretty sure it will take me most of the day to get this done!
To avoid feeling the pain of my recently damaged hand I will be using the speech dictation tool I described here:
I don't have many rules for myself on Steemit... or in my life generally for that matter!
HOWEVER...
Responding to comments I believe to be VERY IMPORTANT.
Whilst I may not respond on the day of the post, I do always get it done before the 7 day pay-out period is over.
Why is this so important?
What we must remember is that not all the comments are from people following us. They may just have found us by chance in the new or (hopefully!) the trending feed... and after scanning our article, they place their upvote and leave their comment.
By responding to these comments with a small upvote, lots of gratitude and hopefully a bit of wit, it is my belief that these people are much more likely to hit that Follow button and continue to engage with our work, upvoting, resteeming and commenting regularly.
I haven't been voting for a few days to get my voting power back up to 93.12% where it sits currently....
...which means I can hand out some generous upvotes today for the comments I enjoy the most!

Sometimes I don't get to write back for a couple hours or the next day, as I also have quite a full plate, but I strongly agree with the importance of taking time to respond to comments we receive...quite an important ingredient when establishing, strengthening & maintaining friendships :)

Yet, I've found that its worth commenting:

Response on comments isn't important only for building audience, this is marketing term and I don't like it because it put one person above others. Answering on comment is great and need for healthy communication between people.
