How to Create a Steemit Account.

How to Register a new account in Steemit

Before You start

• Make sure you have a pen and paper with you
• You should have a valid mail id with access to your mail
• You should have your cell phone with you.

Go to https://steemit.com/ and click Sign up

Provide a user name having 3 or more characters. Write it down on your Note Paper. If the user name is not available, it will tell you. Once you enter a valid user name which is available, click on Continue.

Provide your mail id, write down on your Note Paper for later use.

Verify the Captcha

Check your email for a message like this and verify the link by clicking on it. You can also copy the link and paste in browser and press enter.

It will open the phone verification page. Wait for a minute here, I have seen sometimes it gives an error message if you quickly try out ( verification was attempted within a minute error and then it creates problem later). After a minute select the country code for India and then give your phone number and press Continue

Check for the verification code in your cell phone. If you do not get it , then you can also click on Resend. Once you get the code, enter the code and press Continue.

After the verification is complete you should see something like this.

Most Important : You should get an approval mail within 24 hours but it may also take a week. May be it depends on the queue size of how many people are waiting. This is what is written in the FAQ.

So if you do not get your approval within a week, then go to steemit.com again and click on the below icon and click on Steemit Chat. It will open in a new tab. Register a use name there. It will be good if you keep the same user name as Steemit, because later it will be helpful to promote your post. However keep a different password. Steemit chat has no direct relation with Steemit. So do not keep the same password.

Ask in the help channel to help you on your account. Do not give all the details, just say, I have registered on so and so date and yet to get my approval , can someone help ? Then someone from the Help team will be able to assist you. They will ping you privately and then you can share the details ( user name, mail id and phone number you used during registration). Hopefully they will be able to send your account details to Steemit and get you an approval soon. If you do not hear back, then you may check periodically and ask them again in 2-3 days interval.
