Can You Make A Living On Steemit WITHOUT Investment?

in steemit •  7 years ago  (edited)

As an ambassador for Steemit, I still believe you can. A few weeks back I earned more than a living wage on Steemit for that week. I thought I was FINALLY getting somewhere, and then it drifted back again.

I haven't done anything different, but views and posts started to drop so can only really find the new voting power as culprit. As I sink all my spare cash into my other businesses I do not want to invest in steemit with money, but I am willing to give it more time to develop.

I picked one of the trending posts the other day, looked at their steem and out of curiosity, wondered how much I would have to invest to get the same amount of steem. It would have been £40,000....

Holy Crap......

yes, I believe only heavy investing can make this a full time job. Until then seems to be good hobby.
Maybe if price of steem go up drastically then it might make it possible for lower account to earn decent.
If price goes down more though I see an opportunity to load up.

Yes, I agree...I am still a believer that you CAN make a living on here as a longer term goal, but there is still quite a divide between the rich and poor accounts. I hope that changes in terms of quality posts.

Still quality posts are not getting the attention they deserve, only those who can promote and get whale votes are coming to the top, only a few established steemians are coming to the trending page daily @sarahewaring

Agreed.... :-)

Obviously it's going to speed up things a lot. Question is do you have it to invest? Most of us don't so we grind.

I think hf 19 is a great improvement, despite the current slump, it will rise again after the voting power stabilises. And the steem price is way down, along with all the other cryptos.

Thats a dissadvantage I have, I dont understand crypto stuff!

Yes. You have to invest in Steemit to make a living from it.

No. You do not have to invest any MONEY from sources other than Steemit to make a living from it.

Now that you're confused ...

You MUST invest time, effort, and emotional energy into Steemit to make a living from it. You should also invest a bit more of your earned SBD into Steemit for your first few hundred posts into STEEM and power them up!

Powering up gives you better rankings for two reasons:

  1. You have a more powerful upvote
  2. Your powerful upvote attracts the attention of others with powerful upvotes as well as the attention of hundreds more minnows and dolphins.

Investing external money is a shortcut
If you can't be patient and build a quality following, buying up your Steem Power could give you a leg up. As the community grows however, buying your way to the top could be seen as exactly that "BUYING YOUR WAY TO THE TOP" and there is a certain stigma attached to people who use such tactics.

If you're okay with penny then all you have to do is grinding. Also, overall price in the market is not currently favorable. See it in a long term perspective and with all the new account everyday, It's kinda difficult to be outstanding and catch people's attention but I think if we provide a quality content, they sure do will read and give their upvote. Don't be discouraged.

Don't invest in something that works free!
I guess there has been too much new posts every minute, and so few people ever saw yours....

You're absolutely right.... getting very competitive which is good but you have to get in there where you can!

Maybe its a combination of factor steem dollars are down cins8derably but also i perhaps these things develop as waves rather than all at once?

I think it takes a lot of time to succeed financially here, if you wont invest.

Yes I agree

No I do not think you have to invest large amounts of money to make a living on STEMMIT. You just need to be consistent and provide Content that has wide appeal. We are here at its infancy.

Yes I agree to an extent but how long is infancy is the big question no one can really guess at answering. I do believe it is long term realistic goal and I post and blog ALOT under different themes.

Great post @sarahewaring To me I see steemit as a long term investment and as just a way to socialize with the people in my niche. If you're going from scratch it's going to take time to develop and gain a decent following but with time and patience it will happen. Some posts are bound to perfom better than others. Just give it time. Thanks for the post!

I've been here 8 months and post up to 25 times a week most weeks. I'm giving it dedication and time and have built a good reputation thats paid for 3 holidays. I do believe it can work, just takes time if you do not invest and there is a big divide in who's post trend more.

Hi Sarah! Its going to go up believe it! I'm making pennies a day but I'm not discouraged its going to get better!

Hiya....I'm not completely discouraged....was just wondering if anyone was making a living on here...to date....without investment? I do think it will get better :-)
