@pheonike What makes you think that Steemit is not move-in ready? The flaws aren't in technology, but rather the main stakeholders and numbers just prove it. BTW, have you checked Steem value recently?

It was an analogy pertaining to adjusting the algorithms in order to "fix" issues hence "fixer-upper" which the developers have been during by changing things such as payout periods payout weights and other parameters, hence the meaning being in beta. The only way to know if things need adjusting is for people to speak out. Most people don't have the patience for this and would rather rage-quit than stick around and help make things better overall.
