SteemUps scans Steemit new posts and rates them by a number of words, included photos and the author previous results. Then Steemups calculates Viral Score - a probability for a new post to go viral on Steemit. Only posts with a high enough score are shown on SteemUps page.
Let's admit it. Curation on Steemit is tiring and time-consuming. It literally takes hours to find that one gold nugget in the ocean of spammy, junk posts. What's even worse that... Usually, you miss the train because that golden post already has several dozen upvotes. I wouldn't be worrying if it was on Facebook or Reddit... But being one of the first upvoters is crucial on Steemit. That's why I decided to create SteemUps
Great tool, but do you realize that it's only going to emphasize the "pyramidal" structure steemit already has ?
Minnows will struggle to get noticed on your tool: you should add a bit of randomness for minnows profiles and promote some cool posts which have a low user-grade.
Thanks for your comment @sebastian. But I have to disagree with you. It's exactly the opposite. 70% of Viral Score (I probably should write a separate post how it's calculated) is made of your post's quality (Words Count + Photos)... So if you spent some time, wrote a long detailed post, spiced it with photos - your Viral Score will be high enough. The reason I made SteemUps is to spotlight posts that are top quality and should be rewarded for writer's put efforts and time.
As I mentioned in my original post, I was sick of finding new upvote-worthy posts (I think most of us are). Instead of creating new content, I was searching for original, detailed posts in the ocean of memes, short TMZ-like posts or links to crypto news. SteemUps simply solves this problem.
@saulius Thank you for that post. I upvote your post because of the work your putted in that tool, the fact that it has at it's base a good intention and because with some improvement it might yield some interesting information, but I must add that at this moment, there seems to be a lot better and efficacious ways to curation right now. You can look at my Ultimate guide to Steemit part 2 to have some ideas! Again thank you for that post!
@teamsteem First of all, thanks for the upvote. I've read your post and beside of UpvoteBot (which is cancer for our community) didn't find anything related to curration. Could you explain in more detail what did you have in mind?
I use steemwatch.com to know exactly when the most popular content creator are posting. When they do I go read their post as soon as they are publish. I also use steemstats.com for some of the same reasons and more.
Thanks, buddy! I will definitely explain a logic behind Viral Score in upcoming posts. The algorithm still needs to be tested and tuned up. Shortly, the biggest chunk of Viral Score depends on a post's length. Longer posts = better content = higher score.
Thanks so much for making this! I've been planning to make something similar and it'll be indispensable for me when looking for posts to curate. Surprised you haven't got more upvotes.
@djleo Yay! It seems that I'm not the only one who had this problem! Good to hear it! Ammm, maybe because I posted it when most of users were asleep. Nevertheless, I created it not for upvotes, but to solve my own and hopefully a bunch of other Steemians problem of finding good content :)

Nice tool, but you should really explain in a bit more detail how it rates the articles or the so called Viral Score.
