Powered up again - over 5000SP

in steemit •  7 years ago

Too tempting not powering up at 0.90$ per Steem. I'm all ready a little bit too much involved with Steem than I am comfortable with money-wise. Misunderstand me correctly, it is all money I can afford to lose and it will not affect my life in any way. But I enjoy doing good investments, and I don't want to put too many eggs in the same crypto currency basket.

However, my strategy was to buy and power up some small sums as Steem continues to fall in value. I have no idea how low it will go, but I think there is a reasonable chance it will survive and could be a source of income for me.

That's why I just powered up another 200ish Steem today. I will continue to power up somewhere between 200-500 Steem at 0,8 , 0,7 , 0,6 and so on.

And let's hope this negative trend turns soon!

There will be a rebound in alts after the 2x fork fiasco is behind us. Accumulating the big alts, including Steem, at these prices might prove to be a very good bet.

Now, if Amazon makes some surprise announcement on bitcoin, then all bets are off that point.

The rumor that Amazon will accept Bitcoin? I doubt it..if they do it means every government will eventually accept bitcoin, every retailer, everyone. If Amazon accept Bitcoin we are all going to be very very rich.

I agree absolutely.

Let's hope for a significant turn around - soon. :)

But what's going to be the catalyst for the turn around, that's the key question.

I think Steemit needs to become more "social" as well as "Crypto" - Of course we want this community to be part of the Crypto community, but until it also becomes a social or business place to really hangout, like Facebook, LinkenIn or others, I'm not sure we'll have the up surge we are looking for.

Time will tell.

This present downward trend of STEEM is nothing to do with steemit but to overall crypto market. Due to upcoming big fork (free coins) and BTC derivative in CME, BTC is driving crazy. Traders and speculators are selling all their alticoins (e.g. STEEM) for bigger gain in BTC. In fact, steemit has made some good improvements and steemfest is celebrated, it supposed to be a positive trend for STEEM. Until BTC stabilizes, this trend will not break.

Thanks for that insight. That's good news about the improvements coming. I'm now following you. :)

Yeah. It needs to evolve. I took a look at the timeline for Facebook, and I guess, fortunately, it took quite a lot of years for it to be HUGE. 2006-2013. But we have to probably realize that things go quicker today than 10 years ago. But we should still give Steemit a few more years. I just hope the developers are developing, developing, developing ;)

Thanks for the reply,

I agree, I really hope the developers are working very hard to add functionality, look, feel and other improvements.

Of course, we've just had an upgrade which has helped, but much more needs to be done. I believe it will be and being here early is a good thing.

Yeah, Steem has been taking a hit lately. I have faith in its longevity however, so powering up seems like a good investment

Holy ...Steem is tanking..

My next purchase is sub 0,8...I wonder if thats tonight all ready :D

I've been busy with work and school. So I'm a bit out of touch with what's been going on. What's been up with these crypto prices?

Double post.

Apparently the markets hate the new Steem logo too.

I agree. The green color is no where near as good as the old blue. The logo itself looks like a rip off from whats app or some sort of text messenger. And the green behind the black on the post button is so unattractive. Go back to the old style I say!

I actually quite like the style and pastel colors. I think the page looks better now than for a month ago..and most importantly, its working. :)

I like the new interface, but don't understand the logo design all. It should be obvious what it means and it's baffling. There was such brand awareness with the original logo.

It looks like a Michigan Spartans college sports logo. Kind of irks me.

It's 2 chat bubbles.

Yeah, the logo is weird. Looks like the norwegian "federal express" logo

Ok, maybe it's because this new logo wont go with the Steemit tattoo I got...I've never seen a rocket ship take off shooting out chat bubbles.
Steem tat.jpg

Holy crap - is that a real tattoo or an amazing photoshop job? If that's real, that is some serious commitment to the cause redefining long term holder.

Whuut. For realz?

Welcome to generic company

Looks like Trump's head to me )

I didn't see anything wrong with the old logo or colors.

I don't understand this change. It gives the feeling of uncertainty, especially after the site issues. Maybe they want to give it more of a Token feel to go along with the SMT rollout. Regardless, I think it is a mistake.

there needs to be separate logos differentiating between steem and steemit.

Maybe different logos for Steem and SMTs. I don't see the reason to have it different between Steem and the site 99% of the people would associate with Steem.

I don't know- but steem is the tradeable token. Seems it should be differentiated from the website.
I don't love the green, but it seems that that is something that could be played around with.

Congrats. I haven't bought too much since I've been trying to experiment by earning it as the platform promises, but the price point sub $.90 is starting to force my hand. I'lm going to try to stick to my game plan, but if it keeps sliding... I probably won't be able to resist.

Too many alt coins on major sale to also contribute to this. Steem is the newest in my portfolio, so it's hard to remove the emotional attachment of the other coins I'm accumulating first. Decisions decisions.

Yours was a good one.

It's a good strategy if you don't have money to take very high risk with. I would place Steem in the high risk basket, but it's a brilliant idea and well excecuted in my opinion. I just hope they will continue to develop and take it seriously.

I bought a lot of Steem at prices twice the current price, so I'm sort of doing the right ting dollar averaging down.

I think my average is around 1,2$ at this point. Not too bad, but I've been writing posts and curating for 5 months and is currently in the negative with my investment which is both time, creativity and money.

But I can't see many other investment opportunities that are this unique and promising!

Good decision @scandinavianlife I'm sure if SMT released early next year, steem will be more than double in price!

Sure hope so! The best thing would be if it continued to fall, I buy more, and then it goes to $10 :)

@scandinavianlife, the wise man.

Can't stop laughing.

I see the negative trend turning when we have traction with a wider audience. That should come with both the hard fork and the upcoming SMT's. I've also seen some other encouraging developments.

The new steepshot site shows promise as a instagram/flickr challenger but until the hard fork brings easy sign ups it appeal to new users will be dampened.

APPICS could be the 800lb gorilla once it launches to challenge Instagram.

The mobile app and easy sign up will make original steemit more appealing too.

Who doesn't love the look of night mode?

Good info! Yeah, I actually like the design much better now in general. The logo is a little..what? But, It'll grow on me.

yeah, they missed on the logo. I think it looks like two commas 69'ing, everything else looks pretty good.

It is the best time to power up.
I would have done it myself but I can not afford that, instead I leased steem power from minnowbooster

That could be a good strategy. I'm doing a little bit of that myself. I'm not measuring profitability yet, which I should be doing if I were to invest more into Minnowbooster. Have you done any research?

I leased steem power from minnowbooster yesterday, so it's too early to say but in a few days the results will show.
Hope it works well

I'm about to lease some Steem Power as well. I'll track how it goes and write
a post on the ROI. I'm going to combine it with using Steemfollower's vote exchange so that should boost the $$$.

Awesome idea. If you remember, give me a shoutout when you do. I'll upvote you 100% for that insight :)

Write a post about it if you make some statistics on how your investment is turning out!

I will do on both suggestions.

Hodl on that Steem Power! 😈

Even though the price of Steem is decreasing, I am not running away anywhere anytime soon!!

People need to remember you are investing and helping shape the future of a decentralised media platform.

Facebook has over 2 billion active users and they receive 0$ daily.
Steemit has only 450000 users but they receive 50000$ daily.

I can't stop laughing when I am writing this.
If only the people knew Steem exists...

If only 5 peolpe didnt get all of that 50000!!!!

It is still better than nothing, even if you make 0.001 SBD or SP you are earning more than with a Facebook post.

You are making me jealous now lol

Dude, I didn't power up 5000SP :D My TOTAL account is now 5000SP.

Be a nice guy and delegate it to me 😂 jk

Are you leasing from minnowbooster @stackin ? Or are others delegating to you?
